Today marks my 20th birthday and I have just moved to a smaller town in North Carolina not too long ago. I decided after I graduated high school that I had to get away from my small hometown, where everyone knows everything about you. I guess I should mention that today marks 1 year since my dad has been gone, he was a writer. When I say writer, I dont mean your everyday blogger, He was amazing. Every word brought your body to chills, when I was younger we would always read me to sleep it didn't matter how busy he was that night, it was our own little routine. He worked in an office at night  a couple miles from our home, after we all went to sleep he would leave, but I never knew that night that was going to be the last time I ever saw my dad. That night on his way home his car got struck head on by a drunk driver and he died on impact. After my dad died my mom started going into a downward spiral not to mention my siblings, I hated them. I felt like I had nobody after his death, it seems like my siblings had the perfect life and my mom wanted nothing to do with me. My dad was my person, and I'm not just referencing Grey's Anatomy, he was truly MY person. So, that's when I decided that I needed to leave and start my life over.

After I graduated high school I moved 500 miles away from that so called 'home'. I haven't missed it since. I mean what could you possibly miss in a town that consists of farms and gas stations? Not to mention I haven't spoke to my so called 'family' in a little over 6 months now, the last I heard of my mom she was living a happy life with a new husband, For my sibling's I'm sure they're out there living the high life they never attempted to call me or even check up on me, but I guess that's besides the point. I now live in a small town, but not as small as the last, its not far from the college I am attending. Everyone thought I was insane to just want to up a leave my hometown of 19 years for a college almost 8 hours away, but hey you got to live somehow right? I was always the type of kid to not think before deciding, some might say that's dangerous, but I like living on the edge.

So it's been about a month since college started, my roommate is awesome her name is Karly, she is definitely the type of friend you'll never forget. She's the type you will always see at a party most likely surrounded by a dozen other kids. Whenever I needed her she was there, but this weekend wasn't any different. We were invited to yet another house party. If you know Karly, you know shes always down for a shot or two and she always insisted I was her wing woman. Now, If you know me you know I'm not that outrageous but the more I hang around her, the more I'm starting to like it.

Like I said, this night wasn't any different from any other weekend on campus. ' Come on we HAVE to go tonight, Kyle said he's going to be there with the rest of the football team!' Karly wines as she pulls my shirt sleeve. I already know that I'm going to have to go, even if I have a pile of chemistry homework sitting on my desk, I have to go. I simply roll my eyes and say, ' Alright, fine! But I'm not staying out all night!' I knew that was a lie when it came to going anywhere with Karly. I look at her and hop down off our bed, I guess I should start getting ready. I sit on the floor in front of my sunflower decorated mirror, I brush away the hair in my eyes and stare fondly at my freckles that are popping off my cheeks from this summer. Well, this face isn't going to look any better by itself. I slap on some foundation and do a light eye color, but you cant forget eyelashes they make you a 10/10 in my opinion. I have naturally blonde wavy hair and it's almost down to my butt, Karly insists on doing this hair hack she found on Pinterest.

I let her do her thing and rest my eyes because I know this is going to be one long night, she says 'Okay, now look!' Shes so pleased with her work. I open my eyes and noticed long side braids along my head, I run my hands down them and giggle, ' This is all you wanted to do?' I asked while looking back at her. She smacks her hands against her hips, ' I dont have long hair, I never get to do this!' she wines, she has short jet black hair. It's beautiful.  I let her have her fun with my hair and when she's done I finally walk over to the closet. I never know what to wear to these parties, I pull out a short dress and show her, ' What about this?' I say holding it by the clothes hanger. She looks for a second, ' I think that's a little too slutty, you wanna look hot but not too hot, ya know?' Puzzled, I give her a slight laugh. ' I guess you're right' I hang the dress back in the closet.
