This morning I had to get ready double-quick, cause, as expected, I didn't get up when my alarm clock rang! I only had a few minutes to get ready. In any case, the result isn't perfect, but I'll have to do.

I burst into my office, grab something to note on and heady quickly for my manager's office. Completely out of breath, I knock on his door before opening.

Gabriel > Hi Lillie, come in.

At first, when I started here. I was a little surprised by Gabriel's friendly attitude, I guess I imagined an aging manager worn out by the pressure of such responsibilities. But nothing of the sort. Gabriel is one of those irreproachable men. He's always so unperturbed by anything that might be going on around him.

Gabriel > Problem with the alarm clock Miss Wintersun?

> No, no, I... I... am on time, aren't I?

If I could at least once in my life, be more convincing when I lie.

Gabriel > You seem out of breath.

I could have answered that I took the stairs, but 42 floors, even if I am sporty, is pushing it a little. With Gabriel, I've always had trouble in knowing how to act. He can be very friendly and at other times somewhat distant. He's always intimidated me. It probably has something to do with his build, or perhaps, with the way he twists his seal ring around his finger when he's thinking. You never know with him if you're to be roasted, simmered or skewered. Which is precisely what he's doing while trying to size me up. Despite my uneasiness, I sit down opposite him.

Gabriel > One of our most faithful clients needs a draft for tonight. All the details are in this file.

Welcome to Carter Corporation. A place where you have to work late hours and keep a smile on your face if of course, you want to keep the job that dozens of people outside, would kill to have. I sway clumsily when reaching to pick up the file that Gabriel just slid over to me on his desk. I don't know why, but I always feel like he's scrutinizing me. As I go to take the file, he puts his hand on mine, fixing his blue-eyed gaze on me.

Gabriel > You weren't late, and... not wearing makeup suits you.

> Oh... um... thanks.

I take the file, a little sceptical of what he said, and I leave his office. With my manager, it's a little like that all the time. He's always very kind to me as if he knew that to feel confident, I need to be paid compliments. Sometimes, I almost get the impression that he's flirting with me. But I reconsider the thought immediately. I don't know what he could see in a girl like me.

As I get back to my office cubicle, Matt has just arrived. He puts his helmet on his desk as usual and smiles at me.

Matt > Hello, angel!

I step forward to hug him. It's a ritual we have. Mixing business with pleasure is nice.

Matt > So, not too achy after yesterday's session?

> No, I'm fine!

Matt > Ok, we'll work harder next time then...

> Who are you calling grandma? As I remember it, I knocked you to the floor, right?

Matt > Dunno, all I remember is you, gazing at me in the shower.

Oh!

> Matt, I already told you, I mistook the men's and the women's shower rooms!

Matt > Don't worry! I'm only teasing! Don't look like that!

> Uh, anyway... Gabriel has given me a file. The client would like the first draft for tonight. We'd better get down to it.
