My Own Fame (Sequel to 'The Trap')

Lily's POV Chapter 2

"I'm so sorry about Dad, sis. I hate it when he puts his nose in my business too. But I loved how you handled everything. If it was me, I would probably just cry. I don't have the nerve to talk to him like you do."

"What can I say? It's a gift, Lil. Please give me some good advice."

"Okay here it is. Just do what you think the right decision is. Your heart speaks the truth. So if you follow it, you'll never go wrong."

"Thanks, but you do know that you're turning into Mom, right?"

"Hey I can't help it that I have her blood and genes running through my veins."

"Lilian Grace, it's not nice to take her jeans."

I laughed so hard at Holly's joke. But I don't know if it was just that funny, or in all this craziness that it felt good to laugh. Then I hugged her neck as she did the same to me. 

"Hey Lil."

"Yeah?"

"I know what I want to do. I just need to clear it with Mom and Dad first."

I yanked her out of her cave, as she calls it, and out to our living room.

"Well played, little sis."

"Thanks. But it's more like 'thank you favorite sister'."

Holly folded her arms. "Okay now you're turning into Dad."

"OMG, I'm so sorry, Holly."

"I forgive you. But to be honest, you're my favorite sister and best friend!"

"You're mine too!"

I gave her a huge squeeze before pulling her through our door, the connecting hallway and finally into the foyer of our parent's mansion. Mom was reading a novel in the living room and Dad was nowhere to be found. How long was I gone for? 

I pulled Holly to follow me into the living room, but she rushed ahead of me. I ran to catch up to her. Holly got Mom's attention by clearing her throat. Mom then looked up at my sis first before locking eyes with me. I think we surprised her. Then she returned the smile and got up to greet us each with a 'Mama Bear Squeeze'! (It's a hug that is super long and so tight that it feels like a mama bear protecting her cubs. I think Holly made it up.)

"What's up, girls?"

"Can't we just hang out with our favorite Mom?"

"Why do you assume that something's up?"

"Yes Lily, we can hang out. But I know you two very well. So what's going on, Holly?"

My sister sighed. "I need to tell you and Dad something."

"Okay sweetie. Um where did he go? I swear he was right here bugging me."

"Don't worry, Mom. I'll find him," I said with a smile. I wanted to be helpful.

"Thanks sweetie!"

"Dad!" I yelled. 

"Yes?"

"He's in his office, Mom." (I could tell that's where his voice was coming from.)

Mom gave me a shocked look as Holly placed her arm around my shoulders.

"I've always wanted a sister like me!" she said with a huge grin. 

Mom smiled. "Well then I guess you got your wish, sweetie."

"Yay!" We exclaimed together. 

Then Holly grabbed me as we hugged and jumped at the same time. I could hear Mom's laughter as Dad joined us. I knew it was him for three reasons; his loud feet, his unique scent and he spoke.

"What's going on here? I heard Lily call me."

"Holly wants to tell us something."

"Okay go on, sweetheart."

Mom looked at Holly. "Just a second, baby." Then Mom looked at Dad and I. "Let's all grab a seat. I can feel that this is going to be important."

So I joined Holly on the smaller couch because I felt like she needed my support. I held her hand and gave it a light squeeze. It was my settle way of telling her that I was here for her and be her backup if needed. My sister squeezed my hand back, but she didn't glance over at me. She was staring at a wall. But as I looked into her eyes, I could tell that she was mentally ready for this meeting. I hope her for sake that it will go well.
