"Yes, she added an 's' to your middle name, Dad. She wanted to be yours without being afflicted with you. My sister couldn't use her other two last names because she didn't want to represent our birth dad and not to mention how big your name is, Mom."
"Wow, that's really cool!"
"Yeah you would've known that if you just talked to her. So what if you were wrong and this girl wasn't yours?"
"I would've apologized for wasting everyone's time and left."
"Okay, so how's Holly doing?"
"I don't know. I haven't seen her yet."
"Well her car's in the garage."
"I need to go be with her."
"Mom, this is a job for a sister. She would really talk to me and I'm certain I can get more out of her. Dad, it's just so upsetting that she'll never be the one to tell you about her double life and her reasons for it. And just so you know Dad, Holly may say that she hates you. But please know that she doesn't mean it. She loves you more than you will ever know and more than she'll ever say. Just do me a favor and don't tell her."
"Your secret is safe with us, sweetie."
"Thanks. Dad, please stop meddling."
He just nodded. I mean it's better than rolling his eyes. Then I walked over the long couch and gave me parents both a hug before going on a mission to find Holly. It's a huge house on a massive property. She could be anywhere. I checked every room for her and finally decided to go check her room.
Every time I walk into the apartment, I'm reminded that there's a missing part of our foursome. It's been a few years since this place felt whole to me. Rochelle is a popular actress in England and I miss her so much. She and I are on the same level while Holly and Dylan are the ultimate leaders of our secret sibling club, Triple C.
Even though Dylan's the oldest, Holly is the queen of plan making and has mastered the art of not getting caught. It's a pure gift for her. Sadly, Dylan has inherited a huge ego from his father. My brother thinks he's the head leader, but that's a lie. Even I dabbled into the dark side when I was a teen, but that life only lasted four years for me.
I feel like I'm the apartment mom because everyone comes to me with their problems and to hear my good advice too. I love helping those in need!
As I walked up to Holly's door, I took a deep breath, closed my right fist and gently knocked on the door. I didn't want to scare her. All of a sudden, I heard shuffling feet on the carpet and my big sister opened the door. She looked like she just woke up from a nap.
I gave her a light smile. "Hey Hol, can I come in, please?"
"Sure."
She slowly walked back to her bed, shuffling her feet all the way there. She looked really sad and so depressed. Even though I knew why she was like this, I wanted to cry already. Poor Holly. I slowly closed the door behind me, followed her to her bed and sat right beside her. We sat in silence for a few moments before I opened my mouth.
"I wanted to see how you were after Dad's current meddling today."
"Who told you?"
"Mom. I'm so sorry, Holly." (How could I tell her that I talked to Dad too?)
She nodded. "I'm still pretty pissed, but that's Dad for you."
I nodded back. "Please tell me everything."
As Holly poured out her heart to me, I had to act as if I didn't talk to Dad too. It broke my heart to see her like this and hearing the pain in her voice made me cry. I couldn't hold in my tears any longer. But I kept quiet because this moment wasn't about me. I was about my big sister and the pain that Dad had caused her. Just then I noticed Holly shaking uncontrollably. So I held her in my arms until she stopped crying.
