my name is izuku midoriya. i'm 15 years old and very gay. ever since i was 4 years old, i've been playing piano. it was one of the only things that actually gave me joy and purpose, but that soon changed when my mother left this world.

She passed away when I was 8 years old, and since then, I've felt numb to most things; the only exceptions being piano, and my friend kacchan. He bullied me a lot when we were younger, but his attitude changed completely when my mother died and my father became my 'caregiver'.

he has never actually 'given me care', so i found this name very ironic. he isn't physically abusive, but he has been the cause of most of my psychological issues. he blames me for my mother's death, and he doesn't give a shit about me. he lets me do whatever, whenever, however i want.

the only restrictions i have are that i have to 'entertain' him and his many, many girlfriends. this usually involves me playing the piano for hours straight while they have sex. i don't pay any mind to their "activities", however. i just like to focus on playing the piano.

i can play songs by ear and i never miss a note, although, I have this underlying feeling that my perfect pitch will be the death of me. i go to school at a regular old high school, but during lunch and study hall i often go to the music room. every day at 06:00 i also go to practice swimming. because my father doesn't care to drive me, i go to a public pool within walking distance to our house.

My mom passed when I

~time skip to Monday morning because i'm lazy~

i wake up to my alarm at 05:00, groggily get out of bed, hop in the shower, and start to get ready for swim practice. when i'm out of the shower i check the time to see '05:20'. i have 35 minuets to get ready for the pool and 5 to walk over there, so i'm ahead of schedule.

i pack up my school bag and leave it on my bed while grabbing my swim bag and heading over to the pool. i decided to leave early so i can get in some extra swim time. i never really eat breakfast, as my father never cooks and i never really have time to eat. anyhow, i make my way into the building and tap on the reception desk.

"hey, yuki! how's about you let me in early?" i ask her casually. "sure thing, midoriya." she says back merrily. "come on, yuki, i've known you for over 10 years! when're you gonna start calling me by my first name?" i say with a smile. She doesn't respond, but gives me a smile. "whatever, let me in?" i say with a goofy tone. "yeah, yeah. have fun." she says while buzzing me in.

i've known yuki for most my life. she and my mom were really good friends, so she was there for me a lot when my mother passed. She never stopped calling me 'Midoriya'. I think it's because she doesn't want to get too close to me- afraid I will die just like my mother.

Regardless, once i get into the deep end area, i don't hesitate to dive in. i don't swim competitively anymore, but I still get such a rush from beating old time scores. i start doing laps and eventually it turns into me trying to beat my personal best.

i time myself on the clock of the back wall. 1.. 2.. 3! and i push off. i cut through the water like my hands were razors. when i make it to the other side i look up at the time, i noticed i beat my record! i take another deep breath and swim back to the other side trying to beat the record i just set.

i pushed myself a bit more and beat the record again. as i hop out and sit on the side of the pool, a life guard comes up to me. "wow, izu! 2 personal bests in one day?! nice job, but now i have to update our board again!" she says handing me a towel so I can dry my face.

"well, i'm gonna try to beat this new one right now. i didn't have a good start last time." i say, making a halfhearted attempt to dry my eyes. "ok, how would you like it if i timed you? just to get a more accurate measurement." she says, holding up a stopwatch and giving me a closed eyes smile. "that would be great!" i say while getting ready to dive.

"3.. 2..1.. go!" she says and i dive off the platform. i swim as fast as i can to the other side and when i get there i burst out the water and yell "TIME!" she quickly presses the button and glances down. "wow.." she quietly muttered to herself.

At this point, 2 or 3 bystanders were looking between the two of us. "you beat your last time by.. 6.28 seconds!" oh boy. "thank you for timing me! but i gotta go!" i say, diving back under and swimming back to where my bag was.

"no problem, izu! just don't overwork yourself!" she says as i dash out the pool area. "k!" i say, running to the change rooms. "How immature" i hear somebody say as i run past. i didn't pay any attention to it though. i quickly get changed and start run home.

"it's already 8:00..? shoot... gotta go... faster..." i mumble to myself running to get to my house. I may be a fast swimmer, but I'm not too fast at running. when i get there i quietly open the door and gently walk through my house grabbing my bag and leaving my swim bag.

i bolt once i'm out of the door and start to run down the street "08:12... school starts in 8 minuets... it takes 20 minutes to get there.. faster!" i mumble to myself again. i keep on running as fast as I possibly can, and make it in 15 minuets..

"man, another record. not a very good one to have, but it's funny... i guess today's just a day to beat my records...." i mumble again. i mumble a lot, so much so to a point where i have to physically stop myself. i head up to my class and sit down. School has already started, but the teacher is late.

after a minute of sitting down and getting myself sorted, i grab out my notebook. i want to write down my new swim personal best so i can remember it and beat it later. i quickly write it down just for it to be snatched out of my hand. i instinctively let out a yelp.

"what's this..?" kacchan says in a lower tone than usual. "i-it's my journal. i-i just w-wanna write something down..." i say looking down at my desk. it was covered in little words and notes saying stuff like: "worthless" "useless" "scaredy-cat" and other things.

after a second or two of looking at my journal, he puts it down on my desk. he stays for a second more then speaks again. "who wrote this?" he says in an angry tone. kacchan has always been really protective over me since my mother died.

"i-i don't know.. i think... someone from the other class?" i say weakly. "i don't really care though, it's just some nasty words." i say smiling up at him. "i know you know who did this, deku. i'll ask again: who?" he says, angrier than before. "i honestly don't know who." i say defensively.

"fine. i'll believe you. wanna have lunch together?" he says wiping off the words. "can't, gotta practice." i say helping him wipe it off. "you're always practicing. i'll be joining you of course. i haven't heard you play a while.." he says, still wiping. "o-ok... it may not be very fun-" i say getting cut off  "makes it even better." he says, finishing wiping the words off the table and sitting in his desk behind me.

a few more kids shuffle into class and sit down. todoroki sits down next to me and taps my shoulder. "hey, how are you today, midoriya?" he says looking at me. "o-oh, hi todoroki. i'm good, what about you?" i say back to him.

"i'm ok. i saw you swimming this morning, you kept on beating your personal bests!" he says with his usual tone, but there was still a hint of happiness and excitement. normally, nobody can read his emotions, but i can read him like a book. i giggle at the thought and we look towards aizawa-sensei who is now entering the class.

"alright, class. UA high is proud to inform you that we officially have a dormitory. we will send you home with a form that needs to be filled out and signed by a parent or guardian confirming that you are allowed to stay in the dormitory. because there are an even amount of children in this school, dorms will be split into groups of 2." mr. Aizawa says. oh boy. "Now, onto the lesson." he moves on. i pretty much tuned out everything he was talking about and began thinking about the dorms.
