We pulled up to the hospital, I immediately opened the door and ran into the hospital. Calum came in behind me, he guided me to the front desk.
"Uh hi, was a guy rushed into here? Red hair, six foot two?" Calum asked the nurse. She thought for a moment and then frowned slightly, she shook her head.
"No, there hasn't been any emerge-"
Paramedics slammed through the doors, they pushed a gurney. I whipped around and saw a flash of red hair on the gurney.
"Michael!?" I ran to the gurney, my worst fear was confirmed. Michael. Blood and bruises covered his face, a neck brace was wrapped around his neck. "Oh my god what happened?" I went to touch his face but a pair of arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me away from him. "No! Michael! Let me go!" I thrashed and kicked the person holding me back, I watched as the paramedics ran Michael down the hallway. They turned the corner and disappeared, I stopped fighting the person.
"Alex, it's gonna be ok." Calum spoke, he was the one that held me back. My body fell limp and if it wasn't for Cal, I would've fell to the floor. I felt numb, I felt dizzy, I felt sick. Calum dragged me over to a chair and set me down, he sat down beside me. I held my face in my hands and that's when I started to break down. Tears poured out of my eyes and down my face, Calum put a hand on my back and soothing rubbed it.
"I'm sure he'll be fine." He whispered. He didn't look fine, he looked bad. Who would do that to someone? What monster would attack and beat an innocent guy? I cried and cried until it felt as if I had no tears left to cry, I sat up and rubbed my eyes. I looked around the room, nobody else was around, only a few nurses sat behind the desk. Calum still remained next me, he was playing with his fingers, I could tell he was nervous. We were both nervous.

"Are you Alex?" a doctor approached Calum and I, we had been sitting here for hours.
"Um yes." I replied. The doctor lightly smiled.
"Hi, I'm Dr. William. I just finished surgery on Michael." He said, I jolted up.
"Is he Ok?" I asked hopeful, The doctor frowned.
"Well, that's what I came to talk to you about." He said, I felt my heart drop, those words are never good.
"Oh god, what happened?" I asked.
"His injuries were bad. He suffered a broken nose and broken cheekbone. He broke his arm in two places and broke four ribs. There are bruises all around his body and various cuts we had to stitch. The last thing is his head.........it was hit pretty hard by something. Who ever attacked him probably didn't want him alive." The doctor finished. I covered my mouth with my hand in shock, I felt like crying all over again.
"So uh, will he be ok?" I sniffed away a few tears.
"Honestly Alex, I don't know. Right now he's holding up but barely, you can see him if you like." I nodded and the doctor led Calum and I to his room. Calum had one hand on my shoulder and the other rested loosely on my waist. We stopped in front of a door,
"This is it." The doctor motioned to the door, he walked away and left Calum and I alone.
"Alex, you don't have to do this. I can go in first if you want." Calum stated, I shook my head and slowly opened the door. I shut my eyes at first, I was afraid of looking. I inched closer to the bed and then finally opened my eyes, I gasped. Michael laid there, cuts and bruises all over his face. His head was wrapped in a bandage and his arm was in a cast and sling.
"Oh my god, Michael." I whispered. I went up to the side of his bed and rest my hands on it. I could feel tears again, my eye sight started to blur. Calum stood beside me, he too started to cry.
"He's gonna be ok Alex, he'll pull through." Calum smiled reassuringly. I turned away from him and walked back into the hallway, I took a deep breath. I fell to the ground and had another break down, I banged the ground with my hand, angry at the world.
"It's not fair!" I screamed. "Why him!" I cried more and then eventually gave up, I slumped down and just laid there. Calum picked me up and brought me back into Michaels room, he set me in a chair.
"I'm gonna go get us some food. I'll be back in a few." He nodded to me and then left the room. I pulled the chair beside Michaels bed, I grabbed his hand and squeezed it.
"Please wake up Michael. I need you, our kid needs you! You can't leave me behind!" I started to cry again. I looked up at his face, he never moved. "You have to wake up........we had plans. We were gonna get married and have more kids and live happily ever after. Cmon Michael!" I wiped the tears from my face. I laid my head on the edge of the bed, I listened to the heart monitor that let me know that Michaels still alive. I closed my eyes, I didn't realise I was tired until I did so. I ended up drifting off into sleep, Hopefully Michael will be in my dreams.
