Landon

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. -James 1:2-4"

I stared right into the shiny white floors, not paying attention to anything the preacher was saying. This place always bored me to death, but I didn't have a choice if I wanted to be here or not. Now I won't disrespect the church, but I never felt like I fit in. I definitely didn't fit in.

I was forced to dress up every Sunday just to see the same people over and over again. After going to church for years, I lost all interest in everything.

"Landon, listen," my mom whispered to me with an annoyed expression. I took my eyes off of the floor and put my focus back at the small stage.

I'm a twenty-five year old man who still doesn't have my own place or a job. It's pretty pathetic but when your mom makes a really good income, there's really no reason to move out. Or at least that's what I tell myself. My mom always told me that as long I was living under her roof I had to go by her rules. I, of course, won't disrespect her. That means going to this place was still a mandatory thing for me.

After what felt like hours, mass was finally over. Usually my parents and I say hello to all the people we know afterwards.

"Wow I can't believe Christy is here. I haven't seen her since we were kids." I look over to the direction both my parents were looking in and see a short, slim woman. Before my eyes could even attempt to stay on her, they quickly moved over to the slightly taller boy next to her.

He had pale skin and dark brown hair that fell over his forehead a little. His hazel eyes shined bright in the sun. He appeared to be on the softer side with his clothing choice; a light pink shirt and light blue skinny jeans. I didn't realize I was biting my lip until my mom softly hit my shoulder to go with them to say hello.

"Oh my goodness. Elizabeth, James. It's been so long. How've you two been?" I could hear the lady begin a conversation with my parents, but I couldn't keep my focus off of this beautiful boy right in front of me. He was paying more attention to the phone that was glued to his hands.

"This is my son, Ethan." The lady made the boy get off his phone and greet my parents. He smiled at them and I felt my lip go right in between my teeth again. Something about this boy was incredibly sexy.

"And this is their son, Landon." Christy told her son. I quickly stopped biting my lip and said hi to Ethan. He said it back, but he had a smirk on his face. I looked at him fairly confused but he kept the same expression.

I couldn't help but let my eyes wonder all the way down his body. He was very thin with almost no muscle. He was a lot shorter than me considering that I was very close to 6 feet. When they moved back up we both caught each other's eyes and Ethan's cheeks quickly turned a pink shade. I tried to keep my smile in but it peeked its way through.

"We're having a little get together later today. You and Ethan should come! We'd love to have you two over," my mom suggested to Christy. Was this boy really about to be in my house?

"We would love to go. We'll for sure be there." I softly sighed out loud

After they talked for a while, my parents and I finally said goodbye to them.

"I'll see you later." I told Ethan, giving him a wink. He blushed once again and began walking away, swaying his hips as he did it. The tight jeans he had on were really doing him good.
