5. Some Skool Spirit

Start from the beginning

We listened to a few more lectures and then had to complete quizzes based on those lectures until it was twelve o'clock. The bells rang and the students ran enthusiastically out of class to go get lunch, though I was positive that they were more excited to leave class than eat the food in the cafeteria. I reached under my chair to grab the bag that held my precious tagliatelle. When I came back up I saw Dib waiting in front of my desk. He looked at the bag I held curiously before asking me if I would like to walk with him to the cafeteria. "Of course!" I replied with a smile as we started walking towards the door together. Before we left the room, I could swear I saw Zim glaring at me, or maybe he was glaring at Dib, I could not tell from the angle.

We approached the cafeteria and once we entered I could already see Gaz sitting at a table by herself. Dib told me he was going to wait in the lunch line and that if I wanted I could go ahead and sit with Gaz. I walked over to where Gaz was sitting, while being followed by numerous pairs of eyes. Once I sat down beside her, she noticed me and glanced at my bag with a disinterested expression as I sat it down on the table. She was playing another game under the cafeteria table, it looked a lot like Hungry Alligators. Either way, she did not seem interested in talking at the moment so I went ahead and took out the Tupperware from the bag and placed it on to the table. Then I heard a lot more whispering from the other tables and some students were pointing at the Tupperware. Then all of the sudden, a bunch of them started blurting out things.

"Ew look what (y/n) has! It looks so gross!"

"Yeah, it looks like vomit mixed with poop and vegetables!"

"That's so nasty, (y/n) is so disgusting for eating that!"

They continued to shout more things and I stared at my poor tagliatelle in shame. Sure it did not look very good, but it was still very tasty as I had tasted a little the night before. It was not my fault most things I made look way worse than they are supposed to, or maybe it was my fault but at least I could make things taste good. At this point, Dib was now at the table with Gaz and I, but his tray was empty except for utensils. "Hey! Don't say that stuff about (y/n), sure this food looks questionable, but I'm sure it's really good!" Dib yelled at the other students who only laughed in return. "Yeah, like we'd take your word for it Dib," one said while others began to join in. "Yeah, nobody likes you Dib!"

Dib let out a sigh as he looked at my tagliatelle and then to me. "Don't listen to them (y/n), I'm sure whatever this is tastes delicious. In fact, mind if I try some?" he asked as I start to smile. "Go ahead, I made way too much for myself anyway. This is called tagliatelle, it's a type of noodle based recipe," I told him as I opened the Tupperware. The smell of the tagliatelle began to fill the room with it's delicious scent. The other students began to stop shouting insults as they began to watch Dib use a fork to scoop some of the noodles on his tray. Everyone waited anxiously for him to take a bite and practically the whole cafeteria fell silent. When he finally took a bite, he quickly finished the little bit he had on his tray. "This is amazing! (Y/n), you're amazing, can I have some more please," he beamed as I began to smile triumphantly.

The students all watched intently as Dib put more of the tagliatelle on his tray. Gaz then looked at the Tupperware with interest. "(Y/n), may I try some too?" she asked after closing her game. I nodded in delight as she scooped out some for herself and plopped it on an empty spot on her tray. After eating a few bites she murmured, "It's not bad, but I still prefer pizza over this." I put some of the tagliatelle on the Tupperware lid to eat for myself and it was indeed just as good as it was the other day. Now the other students eyed the tagliatelle jealously, probably regretting what they had said about it. The three of us were enjoying the tagliatelle together, but then heard another shout come from behind us.

"Zim demands to try some of this disgusting taglia stuff too!"

I turn around to see Zim right behind me eyeing the tagliatelle curiously. "It's not disgusting," I quietly whimper as Dib starts to glare at Zim. "I trust this won't make me sick," Zim states while I give him a reassuring smile. "I hope not, I use all natural ingredients so it shouldn't have anything bad in it," I explained as Zim passed me his tray. I scraped out the last bit of tagliatelle from the container, put it on the tray, then handed it back to Zim. He seemed to enjoy it somewhat because he ended up eating all that I had given him. "That was… tolerable," he stated as he looked down at Dib who was still very annoyed by his presence. To be honest, it was kind of nice sharing my food with everyone it made me feel warm inside knowing that they all enjoyed it to some degree.

Before too long, the bell rang meaning that lunch time was over and now the students hurriedly went outside to recess. Zim gave Dib a glare before taking his tray to the box where the students piled their dirty trays. I pack up my Tupperware as Dib and Gaz put their trays away and then walk with them to the outside. As we walk outside, I feel the cool air brush against my skin as well as a piece of paper being shoved into my hand. "You might want to read that," Gaz smiled as she walked over to a bench to play her game in piece. I unfolded the crumpled note to see what it said.

Meet me at my house at 8 tomorrow. I'm so going to cream you at Crush Sisters.

I stuffed the note into my pocket and smiled at Dib. "Want to discuss more theories on the paranormal together?" I ask in a cheerful tone, but he seemed a little out of sorts. I could sense that he was suddenly very nervous, but I was unsure as of why. He seemed perfectly fine back at the cafeteria, but as soon as Gaz left to do her own thing his vibe changed all the sudden. "Yeah but there's something I have to ask you first. W-would you like to maybe spend time together after school is over today?" he asked in a somewhat nervous tone. I was a little confused on why he was nervous asking me to hang out, but I was also happy that he wanted to spend time with me. "Sure, is there any particular place you would like to go?" I reply with lots of enthusiasm.
