"By the way, did you get any sleep last night?" I asked after throwing my empty yogurt cup and plastic spoon in the trash. "I managed somehow. Oh and don't forget your noodles, if you do I'll eat them," he smirked as he slumped himself back into the couch. He seemed to be happier for some reason, I was not sure why exactly though. There was no way he found another girlfriend that fast and if he did then he would probably be spending most of his spare time with her. I opened the fridge to grab the large Tupperware with the tagliatelle and tried to put it into my school bag, only it was too full of school supplies, so I would have to carry the tagliatelle in my arms all the way to Skool. Since I did not want to risk dropping it and breaking the glass Tupperware on the way to Skool, I found another bag that I could carry it in so I gently put the Tupperware inside before I headed off to Skool.
As I walked to Skool, I passed by Zim's house and wondered if I should wait and see if he would like to walk there with me. Then again, he could have already left and I would be waiting outside his house for no reason so I went on my way. Eleven minutes passed and soon enough I was already outside the school. Lots of kids were entering the building one by one and I followed. While walking towards Ms. Bitters' class, I could feel people eyeing me and hear them whispering amongst each other. The atmosphere in the air gave me the impression that this was not a good thing, but I tried to ignore it as I walked through the hallway. I stepped through the open door to the classroom and hurriedly went to my desk while putting my bag on the back of my chair and slid the bag with the tagliatelle underneath the chair.
All the other children appeared to be present, aside from Dib and Zim. I felt the eyes of the other students on me in here too, except they were more intense than the ones in the hallway. Gaz might have been right in telling me that people might treat me differently after what happened on Friday at lunch. I looked up at Ms. Bitters, who seemed to be sorting through some papers on her desk, probably either grading papers or going over today's assignments. Then I glanced toward the door waiting for both Zim and Dib to turn up. The sound of the clicking clock filled my ears as each second passed. That and the whispering among students were the only noises that filled the room. I laid my arms on top of my desk and was just about to lay my head down before I saw someone walk through the door.
I was honestly expecting Dib to come in first, but to my surprise Zim was the first to come to class. I gave him a friendly wave and a smile, which caught his attention. It seemed as if he was about to wave back, but then Dib ran into him from the side, causing both to stumble. It was less than a second later they had broken out into an argument, which caught the attention of the entire class. "You dare bump into Zim?" Zim yelled at Dib as he regained his balance. "Geez Zim it was an accident okay? I didn't want to be late for class, also it's your fault for standing right in front of the doorway!" Dib retorted as Zim quickly relied with, "Lies!" To prevent the argument from going any further, Ms. Bitters stepped in. "Both of you are being nuisances, just apologize and get over it. Now sit down, class is about to begin."
After exchanging glares with one another, Zim and Dib walked to their desks and sat down as instructed. Though she was quite strict, I did have a bit of respect for Ms. Bitters for solving arguments so quickly, well maybe not solving them but ending them at least. The class began with an assignment, which all the students seemed annoyed by since it was the first thing in the morning. It was about fears, specifically fake ones, the goal of the assignment was to make up a fear and write an essay on it. I had a couple ideas in mind, so I chose one and began to write it down. The room was filled with the sound with pencil tips being rubbed against paper as the students wrote their essays. Once I finished writing, I laid down my pencil and reviewed my fear essay while waiting for further instructions.
After a few minutes had passed, Ms. Bitters told everyone to stop writing and the people who had not finished the assignment automatically get a C, which upset a few students. Then she looked around the room and said, "Okay now time to pick one of you to humiliate in front of everyone as you share your mediocre essay." Her eyes stopped on me and I readily grabbed my essay. "(Y/n), come up and share your essay," she ordered as I took my essay and walked towards Ms. Bitters' desk. I turned towards the class and began to read my essay.
