A glance to the calendar made his heart filled with delight.
Aya's coming home today. After what felt like a tortured filled month, he's coming back.
Scott felt like a child waiting for a surprise from his parent. Aya had to leave for a concert overseas - living his life as an idol. Scott wanted to follow him but he himself got a lot of work in the office. The final exam is here and the paperwork had piled up like the ocean waves during a monsoon. He checked in early past dawn and left work when it's near midnight.
He felt sluggish every time he got home. Coming back to be greeted by an empty space shrouded in the shadows. The once plush sofa felt like concrete when he sat on it. The dinner he ate tasted like sandpaper and he never felt full.
He felt follow.
But now, the wait is finally over. Aya is coming back. His beloved is coming back.
And he said, he has a surprise for him.
Scott's finger tapped impatiently on the steering wheel. His eyes glanced at the phone for the third time the moment his car entered the airport. Expecting the familiar pale face of his boyfriend, the brunette was only met with the blackened screen of his phone. Clicking his tongue, Scott turned his gaze back to the front.
How many times did he say he misses Aya? How much he missed that long, black tresses with red highlighted in those locks. That sweet nightingale voice kept calling to him like a siren's song. Slender fingers wrapped around calloused, tan ones and Scott would be pulled into his warm embrace.
Scott leaned back in his seat, closing his eyes. Aya's lullaby whispered in his ears. The song pulled him into another realm where it was more soothing. No busy traffics. No mountain pile of paperwork. No boss to break his eardrums.
Just him and Aya...
But the tranquil scene was short-lived when someone knocked on his window. Scott frowned and was about to give the intruder a piece of his mind when the person in front of him killed the igniting fire.
Aya waved at Scott before pointing down. Scott shook his head and unlocked the door. The black-haired idol walked around to enter through the passenger door. Scott could not stop staring at his boyfriend. He looked different. So different that Scott could hardly recognized him.
"What's wrong, love?" Aya asked, closing the door. He brushed his fingers through his now short hair. "You've been staring at me, this whole time."
Scott cleared his throat. The car rumbled back to life and drove out of the airport's parking. Aya leaned against his seat, enjoying the relaxation of his day off. A month of world tour concert, he needed a break.
"Can we stop by at Eppie's for a bite?" Aya turned to his lover. "I'm starving and I'm craving for a good cheeseburger."
"You travelled almost all over the world. You must have found a cheeseburger better than Eppie's."
The smaller man shook his head. "Never. Nothing can beat Eppie's!"
Scott chuckled. He parked in front of the said restaurant. Aya literally ran to the door once he got out of the car. Scott could've sworn he saw sparkles trailing his boyfriend. Aya bounced on the balls of his feet at the counter, placing his order.
The same thing - cheeseburger, large Diet Coke and fries.
Scott just ordered fried chicken and curly fries. They sat near the window where they can see the cars passing by - something Aya loved to do while he ate. Aya was always curious and he loved to watch people walking by just to guess what they might be thinking.
Aya took another bite of his burger before glancing to his partner. Ruby eyes caught confused, azure ones. Aya smiled, lowering his food. "Penny for your thoughts, dear?"
Scott flinched. Was it obvious?
"Nothing, just," Scott cleared his throat. "What happened to your hair?"
Aya's hand instantly went to his black locks. A light tinge of pink dusted on his cheeks. Those eyes gaze down and a shy smile on his lips. "I-I just thought to have a change of style once in a while..."
"But..."
"Oh my God, is that?"
"Kyaaa! It's Aya!"
The couple turned to a pair of of girls squealing. One who was wearing glasses approached their table, a pink book clutched in her hands. She hesitated a bit before gaining enough confidence to get closer. She opened the book and presented a clean, white page to the black-haired singer.
"A-Aya, can-can I have your auto...graph..."
Aya smiled at her, making the poor girl dizzy with intense fangirl aura. Aya took out a pen from his pants pocket. The pen moved in a cursive line on the white page into what is Aya's signature. He added a small heart on the head of the 'y'. The girls squealed happily before skittering away, waving goodbye and thanking their idol.
Scott sighed. Aya's twin, Zie, had the same short hair. He was extremely handsome, according to the fans. Aya's charms were reduced when his hair was long. Now that his hair is short...
"Are you jealous?" Scott looked up. Aya smirked, munching on a french fry. "You're jealous."
The brunet clicked his tongue in annoyance. "Of course I am. I did say before that I don't like it when others look at you."
"Does that mean you don't like it when I'm beautiful?"
Scott blushed tomato red. "No!" He cleared his throat. "No, I mean - uhhh..."
Aya placed a kiss on his cheek. "You're cute when you're jealous. Don't worry. I have no interest in anyone. Except for you."
