Chapter 1
Riley

A screech erupted from the labyrinth. I could see nothing, but hear everything. My heart beating wildly and my breathing hitched. Crouching beside the bonfire, breathing and fleeing were impervious. Paralyzed with fear and dread, I scrutinize toward the growth of shrubs and brush.

The motor’s humming like a swarm of bees beating their delicate wings beside my ear. The yacht soaring over the waves of icy water, spraying the faces of my colleagues, I gaze onto the sea and uneasiness overcomes me.
“Riley…Riley…Riley!” Sam shouted. I snapped my head towards her.
“Sorry, daydreaming…I feel like something’s up, something bad.”
I whispered. Sam tilted her head to the side.
“Do you know what I feel like?” Sam smiled.
“What?” I gazed at her quizzically.
“I feel like the salt water has gotten to your head.” I chuckled.
“Now, lets see what everybody’s up to.”
