Chapter ten: Cuties!

Start from the beginning

Chatting about nothing in particular and just basking in each other's company, you heard a car pull up.

Both exchanging looks and grins, you both left your drinks and rushed to where they were parking.

It was a fancy red Porsche with spinning rims. You thought it looked ridiculous but of course you didn't judge. Ariel was impressed at the sight and gawked.

"You think it's a rich and sexy divorced dad?" She whispered to you, and you elbowed her gently.

"Shush!" You snorted back quietly.

Standing behind the money mobile, you waited for the engine to cut off. The back two side doors opened and the cutest twins you ever did see, hopped out with grins of their own. One was a boy and the other a girl, but they looked very similar. The little brother wore a blue backpack with pins and patches; the girl with a pink one with her own plethora of patches and pins. They seemed to be very expressive with well made personalities. The boy held a book, and the girl with a stuffed bunny. She had stickers on her cheeks; her brother wearing a worn cap. Their hair was brown and so were their eyes. You could barely see them with gleaming twinkle of youth they both held.

"Hello!" The little girl immediately greeted you both and gave you a big huge hug.

"She smells like flowers!" She said, inhaling your sweater as you sniggered.

"H-hello." The boy followed, tugging his hat down and blushing. He was very shy but polite.

Ariel bent down at gave a warm smile you've never seen before, as she pat his head.

"Hello there, you're very handsome~" She winked as his face turned beet red, even more than before.

A gentleman walked up to you both. He was extremely attractive and Ariel gasped very audibly for everyone to hear. He wore a dark green button up and slacks with dress shoes. His hair was like the twins, but slick back instead of shaggy like his son's.

"I see where you get it from, kid." She breathed out as you smacked her arm softly.

"Girl!" You flushed.

The man chuckled and scratched the back of his head.

"You're too kind Miss?-"

"Call me Ariel, doll." She winked again, going full flirt mode.

"Ariel, yes. Nice to meet you." He looked at you, who still still held onto the little girl, who was placing stickers on the hem of your sweater dress.

"Oh dear! Um, sorry about that, Rose loves everyone and gets a bit clingy. She also loves decorating things and um-" He frantically explained. You gave him a reassuring look in return.

"It's alright. She's gorgeous. Her personality will be cherished here."

This made Rose giggle and hug your leg again; ears turned a tint of pink. She hid her face in your dress.

"I'm glad you two are so kind. Ah where are my manners?" He placed his hand on the boy's shoulder.

"This is James. He's a bit shy but opens up once you get to know him." James smiled and looked at his feet. "He loves to read and couldn't wait to try and go outside instead of staying cooped in his room or library, reading."

"I hear you on that, James!" You exclaimed.

He looked up shocked.

"I'm F/n L/n; a librarian and book enthusiast. We can talk about them anytime you want." You assured him that his love for books wouldn't keep him distant.

Grinning like a Cheshire cat, he nodded enthusiastically.

"And," he picked up Rose, tossed her up and set her down; making her laugh. "You met the sun in our life; Rosie Stewart!"

Beaming at the display, you couldn't help but feel envious of these angels and their wonderful papa.

"And who might you be?" Ariel cut in, a sparkle in her eye.

"Oh dear. She's in love already."  You thought with a happy expression. You definitely supported this one though.

The man took Ariel's hand gentle and kissed her fingers. She gaped; face turning crimson. It was a day of blushing, and you weren't even mad.

"My name is Trent Stewart, M'lady. Pleased to meet your acquaintance." He said in an exaggerated fancy accent.

Rolling your eyes you shook your head at the display of dorks. They were too adorable. Your heart couldn't stand all the cuteness of today.

Reaching out with both hands, you motioned for the twins to follow you. They both took each hand as you walked them down the trail.

"Come on sweeties, let's leave the adults in their own world."

Letting the two relish the sweet display of new emotions, you lead the twins to play some place else.

Rose squeezed your hand.
"Will Ariel be our new mommy?"

You chortled at this observation.
"Honestly hun, you might be seeing more of her. She's loyal, once you get to know her." You glanced at James, who understood that feeling.

"Her past doesn't define her anymore." You say, not thinking they'd get your casual comment.

"Yeah. Our dad used to do bad stuff too. When mom left us he couldn't cope. But now he's the best dad ever!"
Startled, you looked down at James, who simpered, looking pleased with his statement.

"Well how about that. Well then, I hope you can accept Ariel for her own flaws."

They both nodded, as you reached the lounge area. You had to get the paperwork for Trent so you left the two to play games on the couch.

But leaving the room when you glanced back at them, your joyful state dissolved as you shouted out in surprise.

"Wah!"

Out of nowhere Jason's mask was seen peering into the window from behind the couch.

The twins jumped in sync and look at you questionably.

"Are you okay Miss L/n?" Rose asked whilst James tilting his head.

"I'm uh good! Uh no wait!-" They were about to look at the direction you shouted in, but you got their attention right before they spotted your killer friend.

"He'll frighten them to death! Think, Y/n!"  You screamed to yourself, praying Jason would get the hint.

You gestured for him to leave, as the two kids continued to give you a confused look.

"Oh those darn bugs~" You pretended to swat the air, but really wanted Jason to leave!

However the poor guy had no idea what you wanted from him. He also then tilted his head with muddled thoughts, and slowly returned the wave; machete grasped in the same waving hand.

Face palming, you then ruffled your hair in frustration.

"I'll um--I'll be back, gumdrops..." You sprinted out the room to confront the baffled Jason.

"O-okay.." They shrugged at each other and continued playing Go-Fish.

Jason saw you running out to meet him and he happily followed. Still not sure what just happened, he didn't think he'd be met with a huffy Y/n.

"Jasoonnn.." You whined, pulling him out of sight into the forest.

Tilting his head once again he poked your wrinkled brow.

"The children are coming now, so you have to stay out of sight! You don't want to scare them do you?"

He didn't like the idea of hiding. He shook his head, folding his arms.

Sighing, you reached to your tip toes to hug the burly man.

He grunted, not expecting it. He was tense at first, but soon relaxed into you when you gently rubbed his back.

"I know you don't like it... I'll come see you often okay? I'll also leave you food."

Snaking his muscular arm around your back, he held you close tightly.

Flushing, you giggled and rubbed your face in his jacket. He was dirty, but you didn't care. Cleaning can wait, in the mean time, you just wanted to savor his warmth.

Breaking away quickly when you heard Ariel calling for you, Jason caressed your cheek with his large hand, bringing your face back to his direction. You placed your petite hand over his, and smiled into it.

"See you soon." You whispered, knowing he'd be watching over you regardless.

Nodding, he finally let you go, enjoying seeing your hair flow behind you while you strolled away.
