A tear rolls back into itself in a mother's eye. The tears are lifeless as they stream down her face as she smiles through the pain. She must stay strong for her family; her kids, they need her to be strong. Even though she is breaking inside as she stares down at her long black dress. She looks up at her father. The man who had raised her is now at peace. Her eyes are puffy and red as she cries silently and pushes through the grief. An arm is wrapped around her waist in an act of comfort from her husband.

The bishop announces that everyone could give one last goodbye. The family gets up and they all say their goodbyes until there is one girl left, the daughter. She didn’t expect him to leave her like this. She saw him awake and breathing in the hospital a couple days ago. He was trying to be strong and push through his sickness like he always has. His daughter still had so much left to experience with him even if they were worthless memories. The memories they had that were irrelevant are the ones that she would hold the closest to her. She lays a hand on his chest, but can’t feel anything. The tears stream down her face as she looks at her fathers sleeping figure. She places a rock with him, a rock she found dear to her, so it may now rest with her father.

Guests stood up one by one to say how he was a part of their life. He was only 70, but his health was in worse shape than people thought. He was in the military for 20 years and later worked in a boiling factory where he inhaled chemicals that were hard on his lungs. His body couldn’t keep him alive anymore. The doctors wanted to do more while he was in the hospital, but they couldn’t. He was not able to live on.

The daughter walks up in front of the guests to speak and say how “he will be missed” and her “love will go on forever.” As they close the casket and the military blocks the children's view of their grandfather, they quietly cry. A soft tone of Amazing Grace plays with the stormy clouds above them. The cold air nipped at the family's skin, but the daughter couldn’t take her eyes off of her father. She held the hands of her children to try and offer a sort of comfort while they were looking at their mother with sad eyes.

After everyone has left and the children are waiting in the car for their mother. She watches as his grave is lowered and gets covered by dirt, she lets her emotions go. Cries from the mother were heard all around the cemetery as she knelt down by his grave, ignoring the wet grass, she sobbed. Waiting for him to wake up and play a trick on her one last time.
