"Mia be back for tea at six," Jayne, her mum, shouted as Mia ran from the house to a group of girls waiting for her on the street corner.
"That girl, she’ll be the death of me" Craig sighed flicking through his morning newspaper, "why did she have to grow up so quickly? It doesn't seem a minute since she was like little Harry, crying all night and wearing nappies,"
“I wonder what she's up to," Jayne glanced out of the kitchen window; the group of girls were already out of sight.
"Don't worry Jayne," Craig wrapped his arms around Jayne's waist, and stroked the large bump that filled her spotty dress. He pulled back her hair and kissed her cheek, "she'll be back before you know it," Jayne turned round and kissed him on the lips as their oldest son Josh walked in, his black hair sticking up in all direction as he ruffled it.
"Old people kissing should not be allowed, stop it your embarassing me" Josh exclaimed, sheilding his eye from his parents. He then jumped on to worktop and took a packet of crisps from the top cupboard.
"Rawr," Craig laughed, "grow up your twelve now, you should be able to cope with us kissing," Craig puckered his lips and wrapped his arms round Josh, kissing his head.
"Where did Mia go? We were meant to be playing football," Ethan the youngest brother asked running in from the garden. His shorts already covered in a thick layer of mud and his light blond hair a dirty brown.
“She’s just gone out for the day with her friends, I’m sure she’ll play football with you when she comes back,” Jayne told him, wiping the mud off his pink cheeks, “where have you been, your filthy,”
“I was in the garden,” Ethan smiled, wiping his hand across his cheek turning them a pale brown, “I like mud look,” he reached his hands up to his mums swollen stomach leaving two mucky hand prints.
“I am going to, have another little brother?” Ethan asked, as his mum lifted him into her arms,
“No this time it is a little girl,” Jayne told him, as she flatten his hair, “she’ll be much better behaved than Mia,”
“A little Angel,” Ethan smiled, “Angel in mummy's tummy,”
“I think we have a name Jayne,” Craig beamed, sitting back at the table, “a pretty name for a pretty little girl,”
“Yeah I like Angel,” Jayne’s chirped.
They family spent their day like any other; Josh, styled his hair and went out with his girlfriend, his twin Luke went to his dance lessons, Ethan took his dad to the park to play football, and Jayne went shopping for baby cloths. It wasn’t until dinner time that Mia re-entered their minds.
“Where’s that girl now?” Jayne worried looking at the clock. It was already quarter past six, “we’ll have to eat without her,”
“Do any of you know anything?” Craig asked the boys as they dug into their fish-fingers and chips.
“No,” Josh said, scoffing three fish fingers into his mouth.
“Josh manners,” his mum scolded.
"She's got herself a fancy fella," Luke, informed them, "George Butler, he has ocean blue eyes, sandy blond hair and a perfectly sculpted body. He's passed all his A-levels’ all A's and A*'s, he’s off to Oxford next month and he has been short listed for the England under twenties team." he quoted, from George's profile page that he had openedon his phone.
"Yeah right," Josh joked, "probably some paedo,"
"Don't joke about such things Josh it’s not funny," Craig told his son, "look she'll have just gone to the cinema, all thirteen year old girls are like this, she’s just enjoying her youth" he rubbed his wives back.
"I wasn't," Jayne sighed; giving all the boys a glass of juice. Ethan pick his glass up and tried to drink it in one go as his older brothers shouted;
"Down it, Down it," they chanted, slamming thier fists on the table in a beat of four.
"Yes but you were at boarding school love, you didn't get the chance to get out much," as she finally took her seat at the table.
"Don't worry Jayne she'll be fine," he comforted her.
Not long after there was knocking at the door, it was Mia’s friend Louise.
“Hi Jason, Mia left this at the cinema,” Louise passed Jason Mia’s mobile phone, “tell her I’ll meet her tomorrow at Park Lane. Bye Craig,” she was off as quickly as she’d come her brown hair waving in the wind as she walked away.
“Who was it love?” Jayne asked
“Lou, Mia left her phone at the cinema,” Craig told her, "at least she’s on her way home.” Jayne snatched the phone from Jason, there were two text messages. She quickly unlocked the phone; the first one was from her friend Lucy the other George it read;
Hey Mia, I can’t wait to meet you. We’ll have so much fun, I’m real glad you agreed to this, Gx
Before any of them could even process what had just been said, Jayne ran out the door and shouted for Mia. Craig was ringing people asking if they'd seen her. They all had the same answers 'no'. He was starting to sweat, his face was bright red and his fists clenched.
"What have I done?" Jayne sobbed re-entering the kitchen and slumping down at the table, "I'm a terrible mother,"
"Daddy, why's mummy crying?" Ethan asked, tugging on Craig's leg
"Craig ring the police and an ambulance" she screeched tightening her grip in the frill of her dress as her waters broke.
"I'd like to report a missing person,"
