Let's go back to where it all began, the trip that started it all. It was a breezy day in Gold Coast, Australia the day we had landed from our 8-hour flight, we head to hour college dorms for the program. At this point, we hadn't talked yet, we were still people who barely knew each other. We reached the dorm rooms and started to unpack our stuff, he was on the first floor, whereas my roommate and I were on the second.
We start heading towards college for our lunch, we all sat down as you would expect boys on one side and girls on the other. After lunch, we took some individual pictures for the program, me, my roommate and her sisters took some pictures on the grass and the guys joined in as well and that's when we, the 8 of us, became friends, but for us, it was the first few words anyone would ask and say.
"Hi, I'm Sophie. You are?" I asked him
"Hi Sophie, I'm Eugene." He replied in a sweet tone
Till this day I still remember what he was wearing; a large army green shirt, a leather watch, black jeans, white socks and black sports shoes.
On the walk back to the dorms, we start talking as a group asking each other where we were from and such, by the time we got back to our dorms our class for our programs had started so we quickly ran to our rooms, got our stuff and headed to the classroom.
We all sat down but it was still how everyone expected, boys on one side and girls on the other. The class starts and we begin by doing ice breakers and getting into teams. We head out to the field for the first game, it was the human knot where we held hands with the people in our team and try to untangle ourselves through our jumbled up hands.
Chloe, who was my roommate, was screaming trying to get out of the knot.
"Come on guys, bend down and go under her hand!"
At last, after numerous moving around we got out of the knot, all of us laughing by how much Chloe was screaming just to get out of the knot. We go back to the classroom to start, but for most of the class, we just played games and got to know each other more.
Nightfall comes around and we head out for dinner, we ate the college cafeteria again, but this time all of us actually talked to each other during dinner rather than not talking at all, we all planned to meet in the pantry to play UNO together before it was lights out. We finished up dinner and started heading back before it got too dark to see much.
When we got back we head to our rooms got changed, meet each other in the pantry, in our little group out of all the delegates were; me, Eugene, Audrey, Aaron, Kyle, Chloe, Ben and Joelle. We all sat around the rectangular table and started playing, at one point during the game.
"UNOOOOOOO!!!!" Joelle yelled with a smile on her face
"Walao, serious ah?" Kyle asked with a disappointed look on his face while having one card left in his hand.
We start putting the UNO cards back into the box as it was almost time for lights out when Ben asked.
"Guys, do you wanna go for a run tomorrow morning?" Ben asked
"Sure, I don't mind but what time do you wanna wake up though?" Audrey asked everyone
"How about we wake up at 5:45 am and meet at the door by 6 am?" Chloe answered.
"Yeah, why don't I and Chloe wake you guys up tomorrow?" I replied
"Huh, wake up at 5:45 am so early?" Eugene replied in an exhausted way
"Yeah, why not Chloe and I will come by your rooms tomorrow and wake you guys up" I replied
"Alright, so tomorrow morning we will go for a run and you guys will wake us up," Aaron said while pointing at me and Chloe.
It was settled, tomorrow morning we were all going for a run and that's how day one ended but there was more to come.
