Chapter 1 (Setting)

It had been a few years after the battle and defeat of the demon king, Demise, and all had been well for the citizens of Skyloft in their new home on the surface. They had expanded and moved to parts of the different regions, but many had chosen to stay where they used to live, in Skyloft. The sadder part of this was that their loftwings were unable to come down to the surface, due to not hearing the calls of their masters, and many people were upset with this. Many believed this was a punishment given by the goddess, despite the fact that their friend Link, a skyloftian, had defeated her killer, and sealed him away for good this time.

Link, a knight of Skyloft, was the one who was the most affected by the loftwings being unable to come down to the surface. He had a special bond, unlike no other with his crimson loftwing. Now that he would likely never see them again, he could often be found around and inside the Skyveiw Temple. He came here, as it served as a reminder of his enemy, Ghirahim, who was a very flamboyant yet beautiful person. He would often wonder what had happened to him, and it was a growing thought as the days and years went on.

Another place that he could be found while upset, was under the goddess statue in the town. It was here that his sword and companion, Fi, had been laying dormant since they day that they had defeated Demise. He would often go there to vent, and to just talk to her, even knowing that she could no longer reply back. He also waited for the day that he may hear her voice once more. A voice that had comforted him through his journey. A voice that had calmed his anger. A voice of a friend.

Despite having his childhood friend Zelda with him, he never truly felt like he belonged once everything had died down. He was regarded as a hero, and not just a knight, which isn't what he wanted. Even his old bullied treated him as though they had always been friends. He wanted to be normal like everyone else, but with the special treatment he received from everyone, it was often overwhelming, and just one more reason to hide in the temple or among the woods.
