Evelyn slouched against the decorated wall of the ballroom. The vacant frown on her lips seemed constant nowadays, and her non-existent social life did nothing to remedy it.
Her beautiful ball-gown was still pristine, as was her hair and makeup, but it didn't matter one bit. She was alone. Nobody approached her. Everybody was partnered up in the center of the room, staring adoringly into their lover's eyes as they swayed about the impressively large room.
Eve couldn't dance. She couldn't sing. Could barely walk in a straight line, at that! She was positively hopeless, and had only gotten into the school with her parents' money.
As she snapped back into the real world, she noticed someone was talking to her.
"...Are you listening to me?"
The girl's voice was... strange. She sounded echoey, almost. Evelyn didn't recognise her.
"Y-yes. Who are you, again?"
"Piper! Piper Olmstead!"
The name didn't click in her mind. As she looked up and closer at the mysterious girl, she seemed... transparent? No, it must just be a trick of the light.
Her hair was curled up into a bun, and the dress she wore seemed very old-fashioned, like it was from the early 20th century..
"As I was saying, dear girl, are you alright?" Piper repeated, a concerned smile on her lips.
"Hm? Oh- Oh yes! Just erm.. Taking some time away from the dancing.."
"Oh, aha, I understand. I'm terrible at the chassé!"
'The what..?'' Evelyn chuckled awkwardly, having no idea what Piper was talking about.
~~ This is a draft and the chapter isn't finished, but I'm publishing it anyway lmao~~
