Prologue

START!

Knock knock.

"Who's there?" You immediately answer.

"Y-N stop doing that every time someone knocks!" Your mom says with a tired look on her face, still trying to wake up while drinking her coffee. "Could you answer it for me please? I'm not looking quite decent at the moment..."

"Got it!" You stand up chewing on the last piece of toasted bread on the table. "But it's just Onion Head anyway."

"Don't call Senku-chan that!" Your mom scolded. "He is a really kind and bright young man! You should learn from him!" She said with a prideful look on her face.

"He is kind to you! You should just see him when he interacts with me, Taiju, Yazuriha and everybody else at school! He-" another knock, this time louder and more persistent, interupted you. "Alright! I'm coming!" You stomp out the kitchen. "See ya later mom!" You grabbed your backpack and rushed to the door.

You opened the door and came face to face with a smiling Onion- I-I mean Senku! You and he had a long backstory together. Although you met him a few years later than Taiju, your oldest childhood friend, nowadays you spent most of your time with Senku. He was kinda annoying and at times you really wondered if his sanity was actually in tact. However his knowledge and abilities on scientific things always fascinated you. Especially his inventions! What kind of fourth grader makes an automatic swimming suit? When you were in the forth grade the only thing you cared about were the animated shows that played on TV every afternoon.

"What took you so long?" The Onion Head said with an annoyed look on his face. "I swear it's like every day you keep getting slower and slower. Such a slowpoke!"

"Good morning to you too Onion Head..." You said with an equally annoyed frown in your face. "It's not my fault!" Your voice got a louder as you defended yourself. "I'm always on time! You are the one that came earlier than usual today!" You glanced over his shoulder. "Huh? Where is Taiju-kun?"

Senku made way for you to get out the house and close the door. Keys at hand, the two of you started heading to school.

"That big idiot..." Senku started explaining, his voice giving away his annoyance. "He found a bird sculpture on the road and because he thought it was a real one he rushed to the vet to save it."

"Ohh that's sweet of him!" You giggled. "But wait? Isn't the vet closed at this hour? I think it opens at around 10 in the morning..."

"Exactly! I didn't even get to stop him! That cheat code! Too fast and full of energy..." Senku sighed.

"But that's Taiju for ya am I right?" You smiled. "I wouldn't change him for the world!" You smiled but hearing no response you glanced at Senku quite confused to see him looking at you with a pout in his face. "Huh? Don't you feel the same Onion Head?"

"Yeah sure..." He looked the other way, his stance obviously less confident and energetic than before. You decided not to push the matter any further

"Ahhhh... Where are they?" You muttered as you tapped your foot impatiently on the ground while sitting on your desk in the classroom. You glanced outside the window once again. Nothing.

Neither Yuzuriha, nor Taiju had arrived at school yet and it was already time for the first period to end.

"Well, they have 100% missed first period..." Senku murmured from the desk right next to you while writing something on his notebook, definitely not literature related although that was what subject you had right now.
