I live in an old city, old but it has bridges and big buildings so it isn't that old. One night at the edge of the city some scary creatures gathered there with their leader, they looked like those creatures from the movie I am legend. They were talking to a group of our people threatening them and claiming that they will take over our city...Me and my girlfriend knew that things are gonna go to shit so we immediately ran away from there, we went down cutting through what seemed like a long tunnel that leads to the exit of a huge building. As we were running we gathered some tools and weapons to protect ourselves because we learnt how to craft those tools and make guns out of them. Once we got to the big gate, I told my girlfriend that I couldn't make the gun so she took my tools and started making it, I asked her if we can take the bike leaning by the gate and she said no, then she handed me my gun and we went out having no idea where to go. We already started hearing people screaming and shots being fired from the building. We thought maybe we should head to the center of the city and there were two paths ahead of us; One with lights and cars and the other was dark and scary, I chose the second one thinking it would be safer for us to be within the shadows than exposed in the middle of the street,
my girlfriend told me that we might get lost so I pulled my compass out of my pocket and set the direction and we were good to go
On the way we met another guy walking in the same direction, I asked him if he had a house and he said yes but seemed hesitated, we begged him to let us stay the night but he refused. I told my girlfriend that I knew someone from the city who can help us...
We kept moving...She seemed angry, I asked her what was wrong and she said we should've followed that guy or maybe made some sort of deal with him instead of walking here having absolutely no clue what's waiting for us at the end of the road
I hugged her and kissed her in the forehead whispering it's going to be fine. We had no time to waste so we kept moving until we found ourselves facing what seemed like a dead end
There was this big gap in the middle of the road holding us from getting there though we were so close to our destination... I never felt as frustrated because we only had one solution and it's going all the way back to starting point and taking the streets but it sure was a suicide mission because the area near the tunnel probably was already overrun by those monsters. I was about to head back there but then I heard a man in a beard calling us at the other end of the road asking us to jump, I thought he was crazy because I knew I would never make that jump. My girlfriend decided to do it , I tried to convince her not to but she insisted
She jumped and and somehow made it to the other side. I stood there in the edge of the gap and I felt like it was getting wider and wider. I told her I'm going back to where we started and catch up with her in the center. I looked back and saw a herd of those creatures coming to me, I didn't think much because I knew it was no time to have second thoughts, I just closed my eyes and jumped, my girlfriend held my hand...The bearded man was gone.
