The restaurant Nia picked for our double date was the best. The lightening was great and the decor, wonderful. It was easy to spot her dyed brown hair from the entrance seated with Vincent and Riley. Nia and Riley met a year back and they've been trying to take their relationship slow and by slow, I mean, this was the third official date they've been on. Riley was moving back to Denver soon so that meant Nia will stay up all night crying and loading herself with Ice cream, like she did before when Riley left for a while.
I hadn't seen Vincent in a few months and I was so eager to meet him. He was now sporting a full beard and his hair was longer. Sometimes he put it in a man bun, just to tease me.
"There's Raven!" Riley exclaimed and Vincent turned to look at me. My heart was racing and I felt tensed as I sat beside him. He immediately wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me closer.
"Hey." I quietly said and they mumbled their greetings back. Vincent nuzzled his head into my hair.
"I've missed you so much." He said and the conversation began. Nia and Riley mostly talked about their jobs and how they found everything in Dubai interesting except the PDA and drinking law. The waiter came and took our order, Vincent couldn't pick so I ordered for him.
"...so that's the main reason why we made Vincent travel half way across the world to meet us here." Nia said and I cocked my head to the side. I didn't know she made Vincent come here. I thought Vincent planned it by himself.
"Wait, what?" I asked which made Riley and Nia giggle to themselves. Vincent was trying to whisper to them so that I wouldn't know what is going on. I clearly didn't.
"Raven, will you do me the honors and take my hands as I lead you upstairs. I've got something to show you." He sweetly said and I nodded. Taking his hands, he led me to the VIP area of the restaurant. "So Nia, Riley and I rented out this place for an hour for the sole purpose of taking you here."
"Why?" I asked but Vincent didn't answer me until I was standing in the middle of the gallery. I looked down and I saw Nia and Riley waving me to go back to Vincent. I turned and saw Vincent on his knees and I gasped. "Vincent?"
"I've always imagined taking you to a fancy restaurant. Going on my knees or doing something cheesy." He said as he searched his back pocket. Oh my lord. "I don't see myself spending the rest of my life with anyone but you, Raven. Will you-"
"No." I quickly said and he frowned. He looked sad and rejected, at least that's what I did. I rejected him. "Vincent, I love you so-"
"Don't worry." He got up and took out the ring from his pocket. "At least, move in with me? You're coming back home, next week and it'll just make sense if you do.",
"Vincent, I-" He raised his hands to stop me from saying anymore.
"Don't worry, I'm aiit." He shrugged and walked back to our table and I followed him.
Dinner sucked, big time.
