Apple is an American multinational corporation that designs and sells consumer electronics, computer software, and personal computers. Apple Computers, Inc. was founded on April 1, 1976, by college dropouts Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, who brought to the new company a vision of changing the way people viewed computers. Jobs and Wozniak wanted to make computers small enough for people to have them in their homes or offices. Simply put, they wanted a computer that was users friendly. The nature of the business is manufacturing technology devices, operating software, application software and providing services.
As of July 2011, Apple has 364 retail stores in thirteen countries,and an online store. As of September 24, 2011, the company had 60,400 permanent full-time employees and 2,900 temporary full-time employees worldwide. Fortune magazine named Apple the most admired company in the United States in 2008.
Apple’s accomplishments include a checklist of memorable products, the original Macintosh, the iMac, and the iPod. Beside that Apple also has globally popular products such as iPhone®, iPad®, and Mac®, and services such as the iOS and OS X® operating systems and iCloud®.
