We live in a world full of mistakes, but what if your biggest mistake gave you your happily ever after?

In a world not quite like ours, lives a girl called Winter. She looks like an ordinary girl from the gaze of a human eye but if you bothered to dig deeper, she holds secrets bigger than you could ever imagine.

A shadow lurks over her body, burdening her with its sickening voice, it speaks of the past she wishes to forget, but forgetting isn't easy, after all how could you forget the memories of killing your family?

She delicately drops the roses on her parents grave, the sky seems to be mourning along as the heavens release a few tear drops hiding her own. "I miss you" she mumbles into the morning air, nobody would be able to unhear the anguish that travels through her voice.

'If I could turn back time I'd find a way to make this all alright' she thinks to herself but that sickening voice replies in a menacing tone 'you can never change the past, you must live with the mistakes that you have made' it taunts her in a condescending tone.

She shakes her head regaining control of her shadow self and soon forces her to the back of her mind, Winter cannot afford for anyone to find out that she held this torturous thing inside of her or she would be captured by 'the brothers willow'

They are a few people that know of the supernatural creatures that surround the earth but the brothers willow is an organization that refuses to let people like Winter roam the world considering them to be beasts of the night.

A few years ago winters shadow self emerged and had fought her for dominance over her body and created a catastrophe so big she had not only killed her family but her whole town, she had been forced to move away to where she now resides in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The news now claiming 'an untraceable tornado of black wind' was what had caused the damage of her old town. She heaves a sigh and grabs her bag walking back towards the shady motel she had been residing in for the past month, she had been constantly on the move due to the fact that he brothers willow were on her case.

She had mastered the art of pick pocketing and had gained control over her shadow self for the time being, though they both viewed society in a different light they managed to agree on the fact that she was not to be captured by the BW.

She makes her way onto the side walk where she is able to see the broken neon sign of the 'star motel' except that the 's' and the 'l' are broken so what it really says is 'tar mote' which never ceased to make her smile.

As she listens to the sound of the gentle rainfall against the sidewalk she doesn't seem to see the young boy barreling towards her. In a brutal collision they crumble to the floor and as she lifts her eyes to look at his grey irises that seemed to hold her captive.

His eyes then shine blue for a pure second and her seems to shine black from her usual ocean blue, as time seems to fly by their breathings becomes labored and they both utter the same word that makes her heart stop. "Mate"
