ok so this is basically the idea that I had for this little AU, not quite sure what to call it but whatever-
The SCPs aren't actually malicious or dangerous- at least not intentionally. None of them are fully human, obviously, and most of them are just curious about us. Some of them even want/try to be friendly (ex. 049 really thinks that his "patients" are diseased and is trying to help them). Unfortunately, humans reject them out of fear, because they do not fit our definition of "normal", and in some cases do cause harm even if they don't mean to. Rather than attempt to contain and imprison the SCPs, the foundation instead provide refuge to these outcasts. Class D are volunteers rather than prisoners, and are there to be friendly companions to SCPs (most often they teach the SCPs about human things and serve as their "test subjects", within safe limits of course) and scientists almost act as sort of therapists for them, while at the same time doing their own (humane) research to find out more about them. Their mission is that one day, humans and SCPs will eventually live together peacefully.
Edit: I should probably note that this revolves mainly around sentient SCPs.
this is probably really stupid, but I can't write horror no matter how hard I try, so I settle for fluff and humor that's probably only funny to me
