Context: You are a twenty-one year old Overwatch Agent living at the Gibraltar Base. You are relatively new, only having started your new occupation a week prior. You are a unique specimen; a product of an accident gone wrong involving a lightning strike when you were a child. The unfortunate event left you with the ability to harness electricity. (For further context, from a "game-play perspective", you can emit powerful strikes of electricity from your hands, combine them with punches, jump to higher heights, and absorb energy based attacks to generate shields.)

You stretch your arms out towards the sky with a relieved, yet painful groan. Your third mission, despite how hard it seemed at first, was overall a complete and utter success. You were proud of yourself to begin with, smiling down at your sparking fingertips with excitement. Nevertheless, you were the one who did almost electrocute Lucio to death on accident. You loved that guy to bits, but my God, was he too fast for his own good.
"Lucio!" You call out to the Brazilian skater, "I'm so, so, so..."
He quickly jumps over to your side.
"Hey, hey, I know, Y/N, this is the third time you've apologized now! I told you, it was partly a screw up on my end too. I shouldn't have just jumped forward like that, but I guess I couldn't help it. I see a cliff edge, and some big bad guy with a shotgun, then you know I'm gonna boop him off!"
"My point exactly. Which is why I shouldn't have tried to fry him."
"Ah, it's nothing, man! Don't stress it!"
Lucio wraps his arm around you and suddenly begins laughing to himself.
"What is it, man?" You smile. His laugh always made you do that.
"I still can't get over that time you got damage boosted in the gym." He chuckles, "When you started freaking out all over the place, and you ended up blowing every fuse in the building!"
"Don't remind me." You smirk. "I just loved how everything went completely silent and then..."
"That bucket fell off the ledge and we just started crying with laughter!" Lucio cries.
You suddenly burst into a fit of hilarity alongside your best friend.
"Oh God, yeah, that was so fucking funny. Everyone was furious about the power cut but we were literally dying!"
"Jack was fuming!" Lucio howled. "That look on his face was absolutely priceless!"
You eventually come to your senses as you notice Soldier 76 eye the pair of you from up front. Your upper lip is in conflict with your lower lip, as the latter cannot keep straight the harder you try to wipe your mind clean of that hilarious first day. Lucio on the other hand is still laughing just as hard, which causes you to start up again. Soldier shakes his head slowly, and continues to make his way forward towards the base.
You take of your brightly colored orange amour and happily toss it to one side. This is the only job in the entire world, you thought, that left you too excited to sleep thanks to the high levels of anticipation you have for your next working day. You feel complete, and whole again, now that your so-called "condition" finally has a purpose in your life. Nothing can compare to this.
You still wish you could sleep though. It had been half an hour and you were getting impatient. You knew you needed the rest for tomorrow's training. Jack would be expecting your presence in the training gym at six o clock sharp, no ifs, no buts. You aren't feeling tired, or even the slightest bit worn out at all.
A low hum suddenly comes from what sounds like the other end of the hall. At first, you think nothing of it and close your eyes. But yet again, its bass driven tone echoes through the door, and you believe to hear what sounds like Lucio and a young woman laughing to each other as they pass by. Intrigued, you leap out of bed and swing open the door.
Before you can say anything, Lucio turns around and grins.
"Let me guess. You can't sleep." He snickers.
"Uh, yeah. How'd you know?" you ask.
"Oh everyone's the same for the first few weeks, edging for the next day to come around. You'll get used to it."
The small girl next to him smiles at you. You awkwardly smile back.
"You're Y/N, right?"
She asks, grinning.
"Yeah, hey, nice to meet you!"
You are terrible with talking to girls. But your awkwardness is nowhere near as bad as it used to be at high school and university.
"You too! I'm Hana, but you can call me D.Va!"
You suddenly feel rather foolish. How can you not tell that it was D.Va? You have always been a huge fan of her- ever since you were sixteen- watching her live stream every weekend on your laptop.
"Oh God, sorry! Of course! I've watched you play StarCraft for years, I can't believe I didn't recognize you!"
D.Va simply giggles
"Haha, it's okay! You've had an intense first week, and I haven't really been around for it. Anyway, Lucio and I were just off to play a round of Smash Ultimate on my switch. We could always use a fourth player..."
Playing games with Lucio and literally D.Va herself. What a treat.
"That sounds amazing. I'm in."
Wait. You stop suddenly. A fourth player?
You begin conjuring up ideas about who the fourth player is likely to be. Definitely not McCree. Definitely not Torb. Certainly not Jack. The only option that comes to mind is Tracer. She seems like the type of person to enjoy a good video game.
As the three of you head towards D.Va's room, for some unknown reason a massive bubble of intense anxiety engulfs your body. Your knee's begin to feel weak. Your stomach churns and turns. You start fearing that Lucio or D.VA might notice your sudden bout of emotional discomfort, but they continue to walk forward with content. The closer they get towards the door, the zanier your heartbeats become. Why are you so nervous? It's only going to be Tracer. Or at a push, it's going to be Mercy. You've met them both before and they both get on really well with you. What's there to fear?
Time suddenly becomes half speed. Lucio's hand is perched on the handle. You begin mocking yourself for being such a wimp. "What was the worst that could happen?" you think.
The door swings open.
"Alright, we're back! Got that drink you wanted! You did say you liked it orange flavored, right?" Lucio calls. You stand anxiously behind the door.
"That's right! Thank you, Lucio!"
As your ears prick, you feel something strange. Something... odd. But good. Real good. Like the final piece of the puzzle in the mystery of life has slotted perfectly into place. That melodic, angelic tone strikes you harder than that lightning bolt ever could. Her voice makes you feel brand something brand new. It was the first time you had ever felt an emotion so complex.
And it certainly wouldn't be the last.
