The giggles and low chuckles of two boys filled the air in the small ice cream shop, neither of them paying any attention to the workers behind the counter watching them from afar with matching smiles as they watched the two interact with the other.
"Hey Adam?" One boy spoke out.
"Hm?" The other responded, his eyes focused on the cup of ice cream in his hands as he scraped around the edges to collect the last of the delicious frozen treat.
"Have I ever told you that I'm thankful I met you?"
The other boy stopped messing with his cup and looked straight into the blue eyes before him, a soft pink color dusting his cheeks as he did so. "Huh?"
James smiled at the other boy, "Yeah, I'm thankful we met that first day I came to Laciest. Sure I couldn't stand you at first, but I'm thankful we became friends," James admitted with a shy smile.
"Well I'm thankful too Princess, I don't know if you noticed, but I don't have that many friends," Adam joked with a warm smile of his own.
"Oh really? I never would've guessed the guy who likes to be a lone wolf had only a handful of friends," James teased.
"A handful is pushing it, I only have two if I'm being honest. And I prefer it that way anyway," Adam shrugged.
James tilted his head like a confused dog, "Don't you ever get lonely?"
"How can I," Adam's eyes stared deep into the other boy's, "when I have you around?"
The blonde opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling above him. The dream and sleep were still foggy in his mind and had to shake his head to fully regain consciousness. He sat up from the soft material beneath him to glance around. The blonde was currently sprawled on a loveseat in what looked like a makeshift living room in the middle of a library of sorts, a circle of couches surrounding a small coffee table that was covered in ancient looking papers and scrolls.
Where the actual fuck am I?
James felt his heart start to race as he took in his surroundings.
Many books decorated the shelves surrounding the couches as well as swords and daggers resting on little pedestals here and there. Apart from the creepy daggers and swords, there were no visible exits anywhere but an arch leading to the next room perpendicular to where James was currently sitting, blocking his view entirely.
The blonde doesn’t exactly remember how he got there, or even what day it was, if he was being honest. He tried digging deep into his memories to try to remember what exactly happened that led him to end up in his current situation.
Last thing I remember is drawing on my bed then getting up to give Midnight something to eat. Then-
"I swear sometimes you do the exact opposite of what we ask you to do," a voice said in the room across from the makeshift living room, making James jump at the unexpected voice. "Do you have any idea how wrong and stupid that was?" The voice boomed, his tone showing nothing but angry disbelief.
James stood up to follow where the conversation was coming from, making sure to not cause any sort of sound.
"It's not stup-"
