I have been in war zones but still my legs are shaking and I can feel my heart beat rise when the elevator comes to a halt. This is nothing compared to what I used to do.

I step outside, my helmet in my left hand and my bag in my right. I see people walking around in a hurry, talking to each other before disappearing behind the doors. I take a step forward and look around, it's been a while since I've been here.

"Can I help you with something?" A deep male voice asked from beside me. I turned towards him, a smile forming on my face when I saw he was a security guard. Atleast I don't have to ask the way to one of my new team members.

"Yes, I'm looking for Erin Strauss' office." I said calmly. My heart rate was back to normal and my nerves were calming down. Why was I even so nervous? I already got the job.

"I think she's talking with another agent right now but her office is down the hall on the left." He said with a friendly smile.

"Thank you" I said with a quick nod before turning around to walk towards her office. It wasn't that far but it seemed so long. When I reached her door, I took in a deep breath before knocking on the door. I waited for a few seconds but as I heard no sound inside at all, I took a step back to look around in the hallway. Everyone has reached their office and the hallways were quiet now. No more short conversations about their weekends, no more good mornings. I liked the silence.

When a door across the elevators opened I straightened my back and stood perfectly straight as I watched her walk towards me, trying my best not to stare or fall into old habits.

"Special agent -" she said before looking down at the pile of documents in her hands, "Jacobs?"

"Yes, I've been directed to come by you before starting my day."

"Yes, I only heard about that an hour ago so unfortunatly most of your team is currently on a case in Ohio." She said as she unlocked her door before pushing it open, letting us both in. "I've got some paperwork for you to fill in before you can start and after that you can just work on the usual paperwork untill they're back. I called them and they're about to close the case so they should be back tomorrow. But untill then you can do the paperwork and I'll get you your badge and gun tomorrow."

"That's alright, so which members of the team are still here?" I asked. I was actually glad I got another day to get used to the office before meeting my 6 team members.

"Only the technical analyst, Penelope Garcia is here. She needs her computers here at the bureau so she doesn't travel that much. I will introduce you to her after showing you your desk." She looked at me with a smile as she put down the files on her desk. "I already put your files on your desk. According to agent Simmons you know very well how the system works so I didn't need to give you a lot of explanations."

"Yes, I've been working in another department for a few months to finish my training before I got here." I said with a nod.

"That's good. I will ask miss Garcia to show you around because I have to be at a meeting in a few minutes" she said as she glanced over at the clock above the door. "Just come by my office before you leave tonight."

"That's fine" I said with a smile before following her out of the door. She walked back to the door across the elevator in a fast speed, she was definitly in a hurry.

"This is the office of the BAU." She said as she pushed the door open. "Your desk is the empty one over there," she pointed to her left at a group of 4 desks "you can leave your stuff here." I put down my helmet and bag on the table quickly before following her again without saying a word. It didn't take us long to reach Penelope Garcia's office.

She knocked on the door twice before pushing it open and walking inside. This room was every nerd's dream. It was crazy.

But she was nothing like I expected a tech analyst to be. I've worked with a few before but non of them looked like this and had such a decorated office.

"What can I do to help you agent Strauss?" She asked with a cheery but carefull voice.

"Are you on the phone with anyone right now?"

"No, I'm not. I just had agent Hotchner on the phone, they're down to 3 suspects." She said as her eyes moved from agent Strauss to me.

"Okay. This is special agent Ellie Jacobs." She said when she noticed Penelope's attention was on me. "She will be the new member of the BAU. Can you show her around because I have to be somewhere?" Her eyes widened as she looked between the two of us.

"Yes, yes ofcourse I can! I didn't know we were getting a new team member today." She said as she jumped out of her chair. Even her clothes were happy. Everything about her screamed happiness but everything I saw on the screens screamed the exact opposite.

"Neither did I. I have to go now, do not tell this to the rest of the team yet. I haven't been able to call agent Hotchner yet about this." She said, Penelope nodded before agent Strauss turned around and walked away. So now I'm left with probably the happiest person in this building, great.

"I'm Penelope Garcia, but just Garcia is alright." She said holding out her hand with a huge smile.

"Ellie Jacobs, feel free to decide what to call me" I said with a smile before shaking her hand.

"How is it possible that nobody knew you were coming?" She asked as we walked out of her office.

"Agent Strauss knew I was coming, I just don't think she knew I was coming today. I got send to this department as they thought it would be the best fit for me after the academy."

"So what did you do before this?" She asked as we walked back to where I came from with agent Strauss as she occasionally pointed out something important.

"I spend 5 years in the military after going to college." I said with a small smile, "Criminology" I said as she opened her mouth. She just laughed and looked at me.

"You're a mind reader" she said. We were back in the middle of the desks as we stopped. "Okay so Hotch and Rossi are up there, you're down here with Morgan, Reid and Prentiss. You will meet them all as soon as they get back." She said before turning to the corner, "most importantly, there's the coffee and we do the brieffings in that office."

"Is the coffee any good or is it better to stop at the coffee shop down the street?" I asked with a smile

"It's good and free. So what more do you want?" I laughed a little as I looked around the room. "We're one big family that love to take in new people, so don't you worry about that."

"You're a mind reader too."

"The worry on your face is so clear that I don't need to be able to read minds." She smiled a little before looking around quickly aswell. "How long have you been in Quantico?"

"72 hours." I answered without hesitation.

"You, Prentiss and I are going out tomorrow night when they're back. Girls night."

"That sounds amazing" I said with a smile, if they're all like this, I'm sure this will be great.

"I have to go now as I'm actually supposed to research things for the team. I'll come back for lunch and if you need anything, you know where to find me."

"Alright" I said, she turned around and walked back to her nerd heaven as I walked over to my desk. I sat down on the chair and looked around one last time before picking up the files that were waiting for me. It was so quiet and peacefull in here as I was on my own but I knew that would change soon.
