the Party

"Come on, it will be fun," my sister stated, trying really hard to convince me to come to that stupid party she got herself invited to "Besides, Jace is going too and do you really want to stay back home alone with mum, dad and Max all evening?"

I was lying on my bed, my legs dangling at the side while I was regarding the oh so fascinating white ceiling. At least is was better than looking at Isabelle's puppy eyes, trying to persuade me. She was already good enough at that with just annoying me until I gave in.

My sister was a charming girl and to add some more allure, stunningly attractive with her pretty face and long black hair. So I wasn't all that surprised that within two weeks she already seemed to know an awful lot of people. Including one that apparently was throwing a party tonight.

I sighted, she had been getting on my nerves for what felt like hours. I was not really into parties, especially not here, where I knew no one expect my siblings. And I didn't plan to meet new friends, like her and Jace. I would prefer to stay in and just have some peace at the last Friday before school. But Izzy was not the type to back off when she had set her mind on something. And unfortunately this time it was getting me to come along, again.

"Fine," I answered in defeat, if only to make her stop annoying me. A wide grin appeared on my sister's face "Great! It'll be good for you. Who knows maybe you meet someone to be friends with. Or even some special guy," I highly doubted that but arguing with her wouldn't get me anywhere so I stayed silent. Even if I wanted to have more friends I wouldn't meet them at the party. People with a personality similar to mine didn't go to parties. Well at least not voluntarily.

"I'll drive," I told her, not really happy that I just chose to go to the house of some stranger full of crazy teenagers "But don't take that as an excuse to get drunk," I told myself that I agreed so I could look after my siblings. Unfortunately I knew that at a party it would be hard to keep an eye on any of them.

Izzy smiled innocently, walked over to my closet and started searching for an outfit. I didn't stop her, she'd been deciding on my clothing every time she or Jace convinced me to go to some social event, since she said I should 'dress to impress' and wouldn't do it on my own. That was right, I couldn't care less about what I was wearing but apparently she cared a lot.

She threw some clothes onto the bed, next to where I was. I didn't bother to look what she chose, we still got some time before we'd have to head to the party. A few more hours without loud music, drunk teenagers and just the atmosphere I hated about those kind of events. My siblings dragged me to enough parties for me to know that I would never like them.

"Don't dare to show up in your tatty old clothes," Izzy warned me before leaving the room. Even though I wasn't completely happy with the situation her comment amused me. It was ridiculous how much some people - including my siblings - cared about their appearance. Sure, it was important to wear clean clothing and not look like you came out of the gutter but apart from that, all I cared about was if what I wore was comfortable or practical.

I sat up and stretched my arms a bit. I had spend the day organizing my new room. We've been here for two weeks but the airline we send our personal belongings with messed up, leaving us to live in a dull place with nothing more than furniture until yesterday.

Now my space actually looked like someone lived in it. My bed was in the center of the room, dark blue bedclothes standing out in the otherwise white and light blue room. The desk at the right side of the bed, next to the door was made of the same birch wood as the closet at the left side. Next to the closet, vis-à-vis to the door was the only window the room had.

I got up from the bed, sat down at my desk chair and turned my laptop on. I might as well use the few hours before the party to get to know a bit more about the school I'd be going to. I'd spend my senior year there after all.
