“Do you want me to er… hug you and stuff?” She asked.

I nodded. “Yes please.”

She sat down next to me and awkwardly placed her hands around my shoulders. “Do you want to tell me what’s wrong?”

“Yes.” I said, nodding. “This man came in and .. and he claims he’s my dad and then Liam came in and I was really mean and I feel awful-“

“Leilah, Just calm down.” Kayla murmured. “I’m sure it’s going to be ok.”

“Really?” I asked.

“Yes. But you know what will make it better?”

“What?”

“Ice cream and a lame rom-com, The Notebook fixes everything.”

“You think so?” I sniffed.

“Yes.” Kayla said. “Now, I’m going to go fix us some sandwiches while you get a million comfy pillows and start the movie.”

“Kayla?”

“Yeah?” She asked.

“Thank you.”

“For what?”

“For being with me.”

“I cannot believe we are singing High School Musical.” Kayla said, rolling her eyes. “I mean how sad are we.”

“Ok, I get it.” Kayla said, holding her hand up. “But can we please get back to sing star?”
