Senior Year

Before Summer Ends

It was a morning during the summer of 2003 in Northern California. My life was pretty normal and boring. Living in a small town can be depressing but things around here are really calm and I'm practically friends with everyone at my high school which I love. It's home and all I've ever known.

I had woken up late to the smell of pancakes and bacon. I got up and rushed downstairs. Mom and Steven had already set the table and they were even playing music. My mom and Steven haven't been together for long but I seem to get along with him and appreciate the way he treats my mom and I.

"What's got you guys in such a good mood?" I asked eating a piece of bacon off the table. " Honey life is as happy as you make it, so Steven and I, make it the happiest" said my mother. " I see, haha. Where's Sam?" I asked as I poured orange juice. " Have you talked to him? He said he was staying the night somewhere but you already know him" Steven asked.

Sam is my cousin but his parents had problems so he's lived with us for a couple months even though he's never home. We grew up together but we never talk, especially when he's around his football friends at school.

" He's fine I'm sure his phone died or something" I answered.

After breakfast I went up to shower and get ready for the day. It was one of the last days of summer before senior year. Senior year had many things coming such as applying to college.

Me and my best friend planned to attend GCU but I did not plan to spend the end of summer worrying about that.

As I was putting my shirt on I got a call from Alex. Alex is my bestfriend and has always been the outgoing one considering how gorgeous she was. "Hello" I answered. " um hi Jaden, where are you?" Alex asked. " haha are you crazy, you're already there?" I said. "No weirdo im outside your house hurry up I'm wasting gas" she said.

I ran down the stairs and yelled "Hanging with Alex be back later today, Love you!"as I ran out the front door and got into Alex's car.

Alex's boyfriend, Kyle, planned to throw an 'end of the summer' party, even though I promised Alex I'd go, that was before I knew James would be there .

James was my boyfriend and is Alex's twin brother but about three months ago we broke up. Even though we are friends, I'd still feel awkward if we both went.

" oh my god has Kyle told you yet?" Alex asked.

"What are you talking about?" I replied.

" oh damn, well the other day Kyle told me that he has a friend moving here this school year that he is single!" Alex said almost screaming. " Alex, you know I don't like when you guys hook me up with guys" I answered with a concerned face.

Kyle and Alex were my friends and only wanted to see me happy but I never thought I needed a guy in my life to be happy which is why James has been my only boyfriend and that didn't last long.

" okay well please promise me you'll meet him at least?" Alex pleaded.

" okay fine, I promise" I said with a short giggle.

We pulled up to her drive way and Alex practically dragged me out of her car. As we walked into her house I made eye contact with James and waved. Yeah we dated but we're still friends.

Slamming her bedroom door, Alex rushed over to her closet and pulled out multiple clothes. " you need cuter ones pleaseee Jaden you'll look so good" she said."I'm comfortable with these though and we are going swimming anyways I'm going to take them off" I replied. "Ugh fine" I said trying on the clothes.

After I put the outfit on I looked in the mirror hanging on Alex's door and couldn't bare but think about how fun the night was gonna be. I put on a baby blue crop top and high waisted shorts. It was not the fact that there was alcohol and cute guys, but I loved hanging with my friends and swimming.

" You look so good Jay" Alex said. I walked over and hugged her."Thank you for being such a good friend Alex" I told her. "I love you forever!" She replied.

Once we got in her car I put on some hype music and starting driving towards the party. Entering Kyle's house, the loud music and friendly vibes called me.

The night went by pretty quick, up until I met the new guy. After getting out the pool the bluest eyes and most defined muscles approached me.

"Hey umm I'm Zach, uhh Kyle's friend?" He said nervously. I smiled and said" Oh yeah um well I'm" "Jaden, yeah I know" he interrupted.

I smiled and right after I got a message. Looking down at my phone I saw it was from James. The text read

" hey where are you? I wanna talk".
