It was Monday morning and I walked into my morning job at the little coffee shop only the locals knew. I started to get ready for the customers to come in and set out all the pastries that I had stayed up baking last night. When it hit six A.M. I went to unlock the door and get ready for the early customers to start arriving. The door dinged indicating that someone had walked through the front door so, I wondered up to the front where a regular older gentleman stood.

"Good morning Skyler" Oliver spoke as I appeared around the corner

"Oliver nice to see you this morning" I replied "Are you getting your regular caramel mocha"

"Yes, please and also one of your famous strawberry pastries" he asked with a smile.

I nodded and went to the coffee machine to start on his order while one of my co workers got him his pastry. Oliver went and sat at his normal table by the window for he could read the paper and look outside as people started to pass by. After the coffee had finished, I walked over to Oliver and handed him his drink. He looked up at me with a smile and then started to speak,

"Skyler dear, are you ever worried about coming to the shop alone in the morning, I know you get here awful early to prepare for the day"

"You know Oliver I used to be but, it is just apart of my normal routine now so not really" I said smiling at the 83-year-old man who was one of my favorite customers.

He still looked concerned for my safety even though I have worked at this coffee shop for three years and know the people who live around it. I touched his shoulder and gave him a reassuring look as I walked back behind the counter to serve the other customers. Oliver had taken me under his wing as one of his grand kids because he knew I moved out here by myself and had no family around to make sure I was taken care of. I was snapped out of my train of thought when this younger man walked through the door who I have never seen before. I walked up to the front and started to speak,

"Good morning, what can I get you"

"Morning" he spoke and then looked back up to the board that was behind me "can I get a blended vanilla latte with extra cream" his eyes fell back into mine and he gave me a small smile. I could tell he was not from around here and was quite nervous.

"Sure, I'll get started on that right way" I smiled at him hoping he would feel more comfortable, but he just looked down and walked towards the couch that sat at the side of the shop. I turned towards my coworker, Brynn who also had a confused look on her face.

"Does that guy seem off to you" she asked quietly for no one would hear

"You know he's probably just nervous, I have never seen him around here, so he's probably not used to this place" I tried assuring her even though I felt like something was wrong with him too. I was finishing up with his drink when he walked back up to the counter. As I turned to hand him his drink, he gave a piece of paper with his number on it. I looked up at him and smiled as he returned another smile.

"Sorry I am not from around here; my name is Weston" he spoke sticking out his hand

"Skyler" I replied shaking his hand

"So, what is there to do around here Skyler" he asked

"Well not a whole lot because it is a small town, but if you keep coming back I tell you some of my favorite spots" I smiled at him

"Well then I guess I will see you later" he smirked and the walked out the door. I looked at my coworker who was staring at me. I shot her a confused looked because I was unsure of what she doing.

"Skyler are you crazy" Brynn yelled. Luckily the only person in the shop was Oliver who was still reading his newspaper.

"What?! He was cute, and I was just trying to be friendly" I laughed looking at her face

"You're crazy Sky, please tell me you are not going to text him at least" she said

"You know I won't but, I was not going to throw his number in the trash right in front of him" I spoke as I tossed his number in the bin under the counter. For being a Monday morning, it was slow and not many customers came by the shop. Brynn and I were trying to pass the time by throwing crumbled wrappers into the trash can.

"You know who's coming into town this week right" Brynn spoke breaking the silence. I looked up at her with a confused look on my face, "does the name Asher ring a bell for you" she said waiting for me to react. My mouth dropped because Asher who I had the biggest crush on in high school was coming back into town. Now that may not be a big deal but when he plays the guitar for the biggest star around, it's a big deal when he comes back to the small town, he grew up in.

"You are joking, he is not" I answered looking at her as I spun in a chair

"Oh, I wish I was" she giggled standing up and walking to the back of the shop

"Wait so when does he get in" I hinted trying to get her to spill more details. Let me give you some background on Brynn. She was Asher's sister but, she was not as popular as he was in high school because she was never known to be Asher's sister. She kept her private life private, so I did not know this until we started working at the coffee shop together. We became really close but, I had yet to talk to Asher because he was on tour.

"Umm... I think Wednesday he flies in" Brynn said trying to think of when her brother came home

"You know I would like to actually get to know your brother" I smiled at her and gave her wink, making her laugh

"Oh, I know you would" she smiled back "hey I think your little boyfriend is back" she signaled looking behind me. I turned around to see Weston standing outside the window of the coffee shop, but he was not looking into the shop just more of wondering the outside of it. I looked back at Brynn who had a concerned look on her face. I shook it off and went back to what I was doing.

It was about to be three, the time Brynn and I both got off of work, so we decided to go down the street and grab a bite to eat. We just ordered when Brynn's face lit up and she took off towards the door. I turned around in my chair to see Asher hugging his sister and spinning her around. I never knew how close they really were. She walked back over to the table and introduced us as if we have never met.

"Asher this is Skyler" Brynn spoke

"I remember her Brynn we did go to high school together" he laughed and wow he did have a great laugh. "Hey, Skyler how are you"

"Doing pretty well Asher, how about you" I asked

"Glad to be back home with my little sis" he spoke as he ruffled up Brynn's hair. I smiled at him not trying to give away the fact that I was literally freaking out because he remembered me. A few minutes later the food came out and we began chatting and catching up about all the stuff going on.
