Autumn leaves – an Ed Sheeran fanfic

“Hey, do you mind if I sit here?”

Aris glanced up at the person standing in front of her.

“No, of course not”

He smiled and sat opposite her in the near empty café.

“What are you reading?”

Aris gave a small smile and and book marked her page before handing the stranger the book.

“Pride and Prejudice. Wow”

“My mum was named after the main character”

The boy glanced up “Was”

“Is. Sorry. I’m just tired”

“It’s alright to be tired”

Aris smiled and looked him in the eyes.

They were the bluest of blue she’d ever seen. His hair was another story though. It was fiery orange that seemed to light up the seemingly dark café they were in. It was a mess but he didn’t seem to mind. He was wearing a black t shirt and baggy jeans with a pair of converse shoes.

Aris glanced down at her old battered iPod that was on the seat beside her. The screen was cracked and day by day it fell apart even more.

She placed it on the table and pressed a button so that the next song came on.

A face appeared on the screen as the song started. It looked strangely familiar. As if the person with the same face was sitting right in front of her.

It was him.

The blue eyes, the orange hair, the familiar t-shirt and jumper.

Ed Sheeran.

“Oh my god”

She switched the music off and tried to calm herself down.

“You, Ed oh my gosh” Aris laughed, she already knew he didn’t want the attention of the paparazzi.

 “Hi”

“Why’d you choose me?” Aris asked as they left the café that evening. Ed had talked to her about everything.

“You looked so alone. I saw you and was worried about you”

“Ed”

“I know, I know, I barely know you.  But you didn’t react by making a huge fuss. So I want to thank you for that.”

“How”

“Like this” He leaned in and kissed my cheek. I slipped my arms around his neck, and felt his breath against my cheek. My heart fluttered as I looked into his eyes.

“If someone sees us”

He cut me off “would it really matter”

I laughed “I’ll be the judge of that” I added before kissing him.

Kissing Ed Sheeran.  I know.  I must have been mad. But it was worth the risk of getting caught.

 We didn’t.

I rested my forehead against his and smiled at him.

“Aris-”

“Ed-“

“Tell me your story Aris. Why were you alone in that café?”

“Can we find somewhere to sit? Maybe the park or-“

“We can go back to my flat, if you like”

“We’ve only just met”

“We don’t have to-“

I shook my head “I want to”

He smiled and offered me his hand. I took it, feeling the warmth.

So we walked and I promised to tell him everything once we got back to his place.

Something about the way we were walking seemed familiar.  Like I’d walked it a million times.

And I had.

“Wait a second this is-“

Ed smiled “Home. Or for now any way”

I chuckled and relaxed my hand in his as he led me inside.

I told him everything. About the bullies about how I loved his music.

All of it.

“Ed, say something” He’d been silent for the past fifteen minutes.

“I don’t understand how someone as beautiful as you could be bullied”

“Well it happens. Nearly every day”

“It’s 2014, they need to grow up”

“Tell them that”

“Okay, I will”

I looked at him alarmed. “Wait, what?”

“It happened to me. It’s not happening to you”

“You were bullied? Why would…”

“Because they thought it was funny. The glasses and the hearing problem didn’t help but I couldn’t do anything about that.”

“Pathetic people”

“Yeah and that’s what the group bullying you are, Aris. They’re pathetic and they deserve to be punished”

“Don’t do anything stupid”

“I wouldn’t dream of it. But I insist you let me help you.”

 “Okay” I reluctantly agreed.
