Tomsk, Tomsk Oblast
What happens when you mix together prehistoric DNA that was preserved in some manner beyond science, human DNA, and fill in the fucked up gaps with surplus DNA from previous experiments by your government?
You get Stolichnaya.
We named him Stolichnaya because of the amazing amount of vodka we drank trying to get the DNA decoded and figured out so that the fetus could actually come to term, and not be permanently disabled or unstable. Some of the guys around eventually just narrowed it down to Vodka, but I like to call him Stolichnaya because it's my favorite vodka to drink.
This entire program was dedicated to creating a creature that could fight against America in the event of an all-out war, nuclear or not. It was designed to have a short childhood and fast sexual maturation to essentially factory produce the animal. It was supposed to be smart enough to follow commands, and essentially be an apex predator of the highest order. What we got was a god damn savage animal that's smart enough to open doors and imitate human voices, and trick us inside to have a quick meal. He's never full, and he always wants more. Yes, he was designed this way, but he took Comrade Zokolo that way. The poor bitch heard a man calling from within, alerted Comrade Semenov, and went in. I had to clean it up after they moved Stolichnaya into a more "secure" holding cell in Leonid Station outside City 40. This was in May of 1983, and I remember it like it was yesterday.
Of course, that was the end of my experience with Stolichnaya. I was told by a man in a black suit and tie to never speak to anyone about the program or I would be removed from my position and loads of other things I wouldn't be allowed to say. I didn't say anything to anyone, and I was called to work on a different project outside of Kiev. I finally decided to write this all down, especially after what happened at Pripyat, that maybe someone will find out what really happened there.
