As anyone knows the best place to begin a story is at the beginning, but this story begins before the beginning of our hero's journey. Way back in the times of the first war, the military trained heavily armoured warriors that wielded a short, double sided blade called a gladius. They were usually called Centurions. This blade was specialized for closer ranged and hassling the enemies, but because it was so short it usually used for, but most certainly not limited to, stabbing attacks rather than slashing attacks. The warriors were trained to use their fists, feet, head, and every other part of their body that they can to physically wear down their opponents before landing the final blows. They were highly trained and very skilled. Due to this, they became extremely cocky as well as a showboat when fighting for entertainment and during wars, but they always remember that a fight with no honor is no fight at all, so they always carried a spare blade on them to give to an unarmed opponent, even if it lead to their own demise. They often got disarmed during combat as a direct result of the blade's light weight. So they were also trained to disarm and beat their opponents within an inch of their life. Once they had reached this point they would finish them with a fatal blow or break their necks. NOW. Onto our story. once upon a time, in an era of peace, the centurions were simply gladiators for entertainment because of the lack of violence and a surplus of violent people. They wore strong and durable armour. Heavy, thick, and protects a larger area than standard armour. To effectively use this armour, they tend to get up close and personal with their opponents and then delivered the killing blow. The centurions were well known for there ferocity and merciless fighting. Even in times of fatigue, they fought until they fell to their own demise. A young man by the name of Dynatos Antras at a mere age of 15 wanted to see a match between a spear and buckler wielding gladiator and a centurion. So, his father, being a soldier veteran decided to take him to the fight. It was fantastic for the young Dynatos. When he entered the Colosseum he had no idea the epic battle he was to witness. First a grand announcement was made for the centurion group. Then came the Gladiators. Dynatos was shocked at how largely the centurions were outnumbered. It was a fight against 12 gladiators and only 4 centurions, yet still, you could almost feel and hear the clattering metal from the gladiators armour. All 12 of them were trembling. They knew that they would soon meet their untimely demise.
