Chapter One

"Hope! I need you!"

I slowly cracked open my eyes and saw the raven haired boy, a pure look of determination settled on his face.

I slowly tilted my head down to my arms. They were pale, unlike I have even seen them.

"Listen," The boy said. "I can't fight the mist for much longer, it's my fathers powers."

That's when I noticed that he was holding his arms out and straining against the force of the black mist.

We were protected through a large air bubble that seemed like it were about to pop at any second.

The black mist was outside the air bubble, trying to break it. The mist had built up as I watched it turn into a pitch black cage outside of the bubble.

The boys expression hardened.

"Can you stand, Hope?" The boy questioned, his stare never wandered from his hands.

I attempted to sit up only to feel an intense pounding in my skull, it felt like it was going to explode. I lifted my land to my head and felt bandages on the area just above my forehead.

I lightly tapped it and felt a wave of pain erupt from the wound.

I winced and sat up, there was nothing to lean on, so it made sitting up even harder.

"I'm not sure that I can yet." I explained.

He released a heavy sigh.

"Do you see the bag on your left side?" He questioned.

I quickly held up my hands and formed an 'L' on both of then before turning my head to the left. It was a simple white Jansport bag. My reflexes were getting faster.

"Yep, what's in it and who are you? How did I get here? What's the mist? " I asked, raising my eyebrows quizzically despite knowing full and well that he couldn't stare at me.

"Rations and healing medicine. The medicine comes in the form of slightly blue water and it tastes like green apples. Don't eat the Oreos unless you have a death wish, it's actually poison."

He stopped for a second to glance at me, the magic wavered and a tendril of mist seeped through the bubble before it was propelled back when raven hair looked at it.

"My name is Chaos. That's all I can explain for now." He said through gritted teeth.

"Drink the water, about a mouthful. Too much can be deadly. Then stand up." He instructed.

I hesitantly zipped the bag open, I was still unsure of who Chaos was. I wasn't even sure who I was before twelve years old.

Inside the bag I found several cans of food and bottles of water. Two caps and several gas masks? There was one bottle particularly bigger than the rest. It was a clear plastic bottle filled with blue tinted water.

That must be it, I thought.

I uncapped the bottle and hesitantly sipped some water. I felt a jolt of energy shoot through me. I took a gulp and felt energised and powerful.

I stood up with energy coursing through my veins and a new sense or hope.

How funny.

"Wait." I said. "How do you know my name?" I questioned, slightly intrigued.

"Well," He laughed, "considering I've spent half of my life learning about you and your mothers life it's no surprise."

Sorry for the short chapter, I've been having an extreme case of writers block and since school has started it's probably going to get worse or I'll use this app as a procrastinating tool. I'll try and have the next chapter out ovee the next two weeks. ♥

Sorry for the slight cliffhanger, I know its only the first chapter :)
