Chapter Eight: Camp Sunshine Lake

Mr. Brown's science class arrive at the camp and see a massive orange and red banner with a tree symbol in the middle of a circle hanging above a large rusty brown cabin, reading:

WELCOME TO
CAMP SUNSHINE LAKE!!!
🌲HAWKINS HIGH!!!☀️🌲

El and Max look amazed as they hop off the bus and look around at the beautiful place together. It bears the resemblance of a typical 1980's summer Camp with various camp activities and campfires. The site is so bright and sunny, a chorus of birds and a swarm of honeybees is heard from above. From a distance, the area of the landscape was astonishing, every vivid colour is as fresh as a painting in a gallery. Mountains rose from the ground as if reaching for the sky, the lake as blue as the wings on a Ulysses butterfly and the trees as tall as towers.

[🎵They are greeted by Larry Glover, the owner who welcomes them with open arms. "Welcome to Camp Sunshine Lake, Boys and Girls!" He claims that it will be the school's best time there. The areas include; a camp entrance, courtyard, (cafeteria, gazebo, benches and poles), tent area (for the students and staff), one big cabin, A lake, an old boatshed, hiking trail, rock climbing section and a dangerous cave. The kids are shocked to soon see Troy there! Corey hops out of the shiny black car and leaves to explore more, glancing up with his brown eyes, amazed at this breathtaking location! But Troy, he goes over and tries to scare the kids by telling them a scary legend, after researching- that 'twenty years ago something horrible happened at the Camp to some campers who were traveling there for a holiday, "Rumour says they never left here and their ghosts haunt the Camp every... night."

El then steps out in front and stands up for her friends, giving him a death stare! Troy then finally recognises her as the girl Ethan likes and more importantly as the same freak that hurt him back in 1983! He tells her shocked, "It's you? Burn in hell Freak!" El still glaring at him threatens him to stop. Troy scoffs, "Wait are you serious Wheeler. This Weirdo is the girl you like? God, you're such a Loser, why don't you let her use her superpowers in front of everyone huh, see what kind of freak SHE really is!" Mike fights back, "Yeah, well this Weirdo is El dumbass and she can break your second arm if you want?" Troy then glares at El before glaring back at the other kids and then walks away...

The Camp Counsellor soon shows them around all the places they can go to and points out the areas that are out of bounds such as a cave with a sign saying- KEEP OUT! Larry jokes to the students that their first challenge regarding the concept of good ol' teamwork is... setting up a tent! The students then set up the dark green tents. Mike and Lucas bicker funnily when they are setting up their one. Mike says struggling to put one side of the tent up with Lucas who is on the other end, "You know I'm actually the best when it comes to placing up tents, but this one is a real bugger." Lucas just mimics him funnily, "You know I'm actually the best when it comes to placing up tents. Nyeh-nyeh-nyeh." Mike then tells Lucas while wiping the sweat from his forehead with his hand, "Just please stop talking, dude." Lucas replies looking at his other friend, "Why? I mean Will thinks it's funny." Will answers by making a short laugh, still holding the camping tent metal poles in his arms, "Because it is." The students then get told by Larry once they're done with setting up, they can go swim in the lake if they want, while the grown-ups settle in. 🎵]
