Chapter one

My eyes started to drupe as I walked inside the small cottage on the outskirts of our little town in Germany. You would think being in a small town meant nothing but easy case work, but it wasn’t anything like that. This town was a town we kept secret from outsiders, it was a town full of witches like my mother and I.

We had rules inside this place, and we had a lot of those rules break when people think it is ok to bring in outsiders as Sacrifice to a god majority of us don’t believe in. We would have to arrest the law breakers, erase the other people’s memories and then send them away from here, plus we had paper work from the town over from us. This town and the people been in it since Germany was founded, we take pride in our witchcraft.

Our cottage had a small farm with three cows, a few horses, a chicken cope and a pig here and there. The rocky layer of the house was covered in green moss and the windows were wide open letting in the setting sun. My mother’s car was parked in the small drive so it meant she was home and probably had dinner waiting for me.

I greeted a hello as I pulled off my shoes and small jacket, placing it on the coat hanger and taking off my badge that hung on a chain and placed it on a hook and walked right into the kitchen on the left. It had a small stove, fridge, a microwave, sink and a table for two. My mother had a small pot the smelt like beef stew and two bowls in front on the chairs.

Her face looked like mine: tired and worn down. Her pixie cut black hair was pinned black with two pink clips, showing her bright blue eyes and her small wrinkled face. She was slim for her age of forty, her skin was lightly tanned. We didn’t say a thing as we both ate our food; she already knew how my day was because her hospital team would be the ones to erase the outsider’s memories.

My head turned to the dog bowl on the floor, seeing it was clean from any food. Zuka must have read my mind because he strutted up from the living room and plopped down in front of me wagging its tail. He was an all-white wolf with the brightest blue eyes anyone has ever seen. My bowl was half done and I was full so it wouldn’t harm to give him the rest.

“Hey mom, do you ever get tired of this life? I mean, I love being a witch but why can’t we leave and just be normal were we don’t have to stop outsiders and all that?”

She stopped eating to watch me, a heavy sigh left her lips as she picked up her bowl and placed it in the sink “I want to leave too and we could if we wanted but we don’t have the money, the only thing I can think of is…..no, no, it would be too much energy”

This perked my interest, even my wolf stopped chowing down to look at my mother “I have energy, we could work together! Any place but here!”

She smiled at me and turned on the water for dishes “If you could go any place you wanted, where would it be hunny?”

I thought about that, I would love to go any other place but at the same time, I would want to go to a place where I could use my powers with-out being judged for it. Humans didn’t like witches; people were scared of the thought of powers.

With-out thinking, I spoke the place “Naruto world, we both know I love my anime shows”

“Well, pack every single important stuff that you need and your spell books and all that other stuff and we will go there. Now don’t give me that look, it is a real place, it is just a different dimension and we will be going there.” She smiled at me again before walking off while picking up a few things.

I ran to my room and pulled out a scroll, we witches used stuff like this to hide our things and belongings in. I gathered all my books, my ruins and some other objects and packed them in one and placed clothing in other. The last was all my pictures, a few blankets and pillows, and all of my money.

Zuka pushed his face against my hand and let out a small bark and turned his head toward my closet. I opened it to find it almost empty, the only item in there was my own version of a ninja headband I had made, it was kanji meaning shadow.

It was time to look like a ninja if I was really going to that place, I pulled off my normally blue pants, and white button up with the police force symbol on it and changed into normal clothing. I pulled on a pair of black stretch pants that were skinny around my legs and a blue tee-shirt that had a V-neck style and straps to tie around my neck. I placed the headband on top my head to hold my long black hair back but let my messy side bangs show.  My bright blue eyes gleamed with happiness, last of my look was a pair of combat boots that went over my pants and went to my mid-calf.

I placed my scrolls in a book-bag, shoved all my cash in my wallet and placed that in the front zipper of my pack and slung it over my shoulder and walked down the hall to my mother’s room. She wore a simple blue dress with black flats, her hair was up in a ponytail and she had a bag over her shoulders as well and gave me a black leash for Zuka.

I almost forget I had a matching headband for my mother and my wolf! I took off toward my room again and grabbed them from under my bed and went back to my mother’s room. She smiled at me and took the headband, using it as a belt for her dress while I used the headband for a second collar for Zuka.

“Is this for real mom? Are we really leaving this place behind?” I still was shocked she had agreed to do this

She nodded and looked at the empty room around her “This place has been nothing but a prison for us, we need a place where we can do magic on our own free will with-out paying a price. This spell I am doing is one only our family can do, it was passed down from generation to generation and it stopped at you. How do you think my mother left with-out a trace? Because of this and now it is our turn sweetie, maybe I can find real work, real love and a happy life with my daughter in a new world now place your hands in mine and focus your flow of energy to me and hold tight to Zuka’s leash!”

I nodded and focused real hard, my energy started to drop and everything around us started to darken. I knew from this part, our life as we knew it on earth would change. Darkness consumed us, and then light, a new path at life.
