Michael's POV

A party?? I choke at her question. No, I am not much of a partier! I have like two friends and we just hang out at our houses or play each other on PlayStation. We don't party.. She looks at me expecting an answer. I don't want to tell her no because I don't want this conversation to end. I missed talking to her.
"Oh yeah for sure." I say, hoping it sounds confident enough for her to believe me.
Her eyes light up. Despite the dark and despite how dark brown they are, I can tell she's genuinely happy. If she's happy then I'm glad I can be the reason. Maybe going to this will be worth it...
"Awesome!" She beams with a smile on her face. "Well Nathan's on his way, so we can go with him. Get some shoes on, Clifford." She laughs and shuts her window.
Wait.
Nathan?

Carters POV
What a relief. At least now I have a friend going instead of being alone with Nathan and his dumb friends. I look around my room for something to change into. Nothing fancy but I had already gotten into my pajamas. I settle for the jeans and creepers I wore earlier and picked up a slightly wrinkled white crop top. Oh, I've been looking for this one. I checked my hair which was in a bun but that's fine. No one really cares anyway. I did decide to put on some eyeliner and mascara just to feel put together but then I go downstairs to go next door.

Michael's POV
Panic mode activated. What did I just sign myself up for. Nathan hates my guts. I'm so screwed. What do I wear? I stumble around my room as I pull on my jeans and tug a random Vans sweatshirt over my head. This will work. I hear the doorbell suddenly and panic more. Did she seriously come over? I shove my feet into my shoes and trip as I go out the door. Clumsy. I hurriedly run downstairs and open the door to see Carter standing there, smiling. She looks really pretty with her hair up. I mean. It's pretty when it's down too but I can see her face better now. She gives me a quick hug and pulls me out of my house and drags me back to hers.
"I'm so glad you're coming! This will be so much fun. Nathan's picking up drinks right now. Do you have a drink of choice?" She's rambling on as I'm still trying to process the hug. "Uh — I.. beer?" I stammer, not really having tried much besides that. It's not great but it's cheap right? That's all my friends buy at least. "Oh that's perfect! I'm pretty sure that's all they bought anyways. I'm personally a rum and coke kinda gal but go off."
"Go off?"
"I mean like, you do you. Beer is fine and all but I'd rather have something that tastes good. I'll make you one once we get there"
So this is really happening huh. Suddenly Nathan pulls up in his BMW. Small Weiner. Carter goes up to the drivers window and smiles. Nathan rolls down his window and immediately looks at me and then back to Carter and then back to me.
"Who invited big red dog here?" He sneers. Like I haven't heard that one before. Plus my hair isn't red anymore. Suddenly I remember why I hate this guy. What does she see in him? Carter laughs nervously and tells him she invited me last minute and if it was okay if I rode with them. It takes him a minute to answer, but when he does he smiles oddly and agrees. She claps and gets in the passenger side. I nervously get in the back and squish myself next to his friends and their cases of beer. They look at me confused, but then laugh and slap my shoulder.
"PARTY ON MAN!!" They yell, and Nathan pulls out of our neighborhood. What did I get myself into...
