Bianca's POV
-5 years later-
Sweat poured down my face as I sprung out of bed, a loud sob racking from my throat. My hands gripping my stomach, as my chest heaving heavily up and down.
As if on cue, my best friend Mckayla dashed through the door, and threw her arms around me. Every night for five years we did this, the nightmares just never stopped.
"Bianca! Bia! Calm down. Shh it's ok." She said, taking my hands from my chest and gripping them tightly. "Breathe. Deep breathes. In, out. In, out."
Slowly but surely my breathing went back to normal, and Mckayla let go. "You really need to see a therapist."
A small groan left my lips, my eyebrows furrowing as I began signing to her the same reasons why I HATE therapists.
1. All they do is proscribe you pills, to keep you doped up and "happy."
2. They could honestly care less about your situation, and play the "uh huh. I see. How do you feel?"
3. None of them can actually understand how you are feeling, and feel the need to throw their "I have a degree" Card in your face.
Like honey! If I needed someone to talk to, I'm pretty sure the monkeys at the Zoo would pay more attention.
"Yeah, yeah. I know, I know." Mckayla sighed, running her fingers through her blonde hair. "Therapists suck. I get it." Her hands went to her face, where she rubbed at her eyes. "Are you sure your going to be okay?"
I gave a slight nod, smiling slightly to her. Even though I wasn't okay, I'd rather cry alone. I hate when people see me cry, it makes me feel helpless.
"Alright. Well, my phones on. If you need me, bang on my door or shoot me a text." She stalked to my bedroom door, placing her hand on the handle. "Good night, Bia. Sleep well, okay?"
I know I under appreciate Mckayla sometimes, but she is honestly an amazing girl. I met her the night Lucas hurt me. It was honestly a weird meet.
I had come home early from grocery shopping, about to prepare dinner, when small giggling came from the bedroom upstairs. Of course, my curiosity got the best of me. I walked in and saw my husband with Mckayla in bed. I had been a few months pregnant, my belly starting to show.
Almost immediately she realized what was going on. Her eyes brimmed with tears, she started slapping him. "Your married???" She wouldn't stop slapping him, he just took it. "And your a father to be. How dare you?"
I watched her get out of bed, get her clothes on, and again slap him. "I feel sorry for you." At that moment, I didn't realize she was talking to me.
She turned to me and wiped her tears. "I'm so sorry. I had no idea he was married." Sniffing, she gave me a huge hug. "If I were you, I'd leave him."
I should have taken her advice. Maybe then he wouldn't have done such terrible things.
That night I was rushed to the hospital. Lucas was sent to jail. The hardest part though, was losing my child. I have yet to recover from that night.
I tossed and turned for a bit of time, trying my hardest to push that night out of my head. I was going to name my child Aiden. Aiden Michael Wright.
Before I knew it, I fell asleep. This time it being dreamless, and slightly peaceful.
That next morning, I woke up to the sound of my phone vibrating. My fathers name plastered on the screen. Since the accident, my father has been trying his hardest to make things up to me. Unfortunately, being a guy, he doesn't know when enough is enough.
"Hey pumpkin. I wanna pick you up tomorrow night for dinner. Miss talking to you."
I sent a quick reply, then began starting my day. My day consisted of showering, brushing my teeth, putting my makeup on, changing into nice clothes, then hopping on the bus with Mckayla trailing behind.
Her father is the owner of a publishing company, which is how she got me in as intern. When I got out of the hospital, she found me, then offered me the job as a way to restarting my life. If it wasn't for her, I don't know where I'll be.
"Good morning, Bia!" A few co-workers called here and there, giving me the small satisfaction of being recognized.
"I'm gonna head to my office. If you need me just stop by. I'll see you at the end of the day." We exchanged hugs before she waved goodbye, trying to catch up to a closing elevator.
I stayed on the first floor, 6 doors down on the right. My office was small, but not too small. My desk was in the corner, with two chairs on one side, and my office chair on the other. There was a laptop, a few book shelf's with pictures of family and friends, with lines of my favorite books taking up room. Ever since I was a kid, I always loved reading.
There was just something about reading that not a lot of other people can really get. It's like, once I open that book, I am a different person.
I am not Bianca Wright. The twenty two year old girl who was almost beaten to death. I was not the girl who lost her child at 18.
I am the girl who controls the whole story. I am the girl who goes on the most epic adventure, and has that amazing male fall in love with her. Anyone but Lucas!
Setting my things down on the chair, I made my way to the mail room and grabbed all the stories I was supposed to proof read by next Monday.
Here started my day, as it has been for four and a half years. Read, go home, eat, sleep, repeat. I loved having control of my life.
It felt good.

There is Chapter 1. I hope you enjoyed it. Chapter 2 will be published soon, I am working on it now.
It will be slower to write, because I am on my phone and not on my laptop. But I still try to make my story at least 1,000 words. This chapter was exactly that.
