DPOV- In a Different Shadow Kiss

"In that case, I'll remove her curfew and give her unrestricted access to you. You still need to be wary but she needs all the support she can get." That was a massive concession.

"Thank you."

"As I said, just be wary."

"We will."

We left the infirmary in the very early hours of the Moroi morning and I took the risk of walking her to her dorm hand-in-hand. "Oh Rose," I stepped in front of her, facing her and brought her closer. "Do you have any clue how excruciating it was not being able to be there for you on the plane, then on the ground?"

"Absolutely none," she responded seriously then reached up to whisper "show me that support later," suggestively in my ear.

"Mmm. I'm going to have to make up for it," I responded in her ear just as suggestively and I felt her struggle to not shiver at that. Later turned out to be ten minutes after she'd been dropped off at her dorm, successively sneaking out of hers and into mine. It worked, by god, what we did to each other neither of us would understand.

The Jesse, wards, insanity, and attack incidents rolled around on the third Sunday of field experience. It was one long night and just before the meeting over planning the rescue mission she finally found the loophole needed to stop me from being turned. She needed to be in the caves from second one through to the very last millisecond- even if it meant defying orders. We also needed to get in there two hours earlier than Alberta was currently planning. Thank god, Alberta didn't argue when Rose brought up needing the extra hours and that it had been a permanent vision in order to save as many more as possible. It was debated over whether or not she should be allowed in from second one, but as soon as the Vision was brought up no one argued with it. Many of the campus guardians had seen her in battle and how quickly she could take out opponents, they'd seen her in fights that had lasted thirty seconds because she knew her opponents every move. Many had had their arses saved by her in the elementary dorm battle where she'd taken out about forty-two of the forty-eight Strigoi and had done it in under twenty-five minutes before moving onto the senior campus and saving most of the novices arses- Eddie Castile's included.

Between the Vision, the Strigoi alarm and her training she was an absolute force to be reckoned with in the rescue battle. The Strigoi didn't know what hit them and she had many taken down before they even attacked her. She knew which Strigoi she was responsible for taking down so she took the battle to them, and more often than not her opponent was staked within twenty seconds- if that. The number of lives she saved thanks to finding the loophole was extraordinary. My own butt was one of those, the main reason she'd pushed for the adjustments. Thanks to the alterations we got all captives out, taken out all Strigoi, and returned behind wards with half an hour of sunlight to spare. There was no doubt about it, the love of my life was a badass- a guardian-angel-godsend-and-goddess of a badass- and she was mine through-and-through.

"Dimitri," my woman was in my dorm four days after the attack and we were currently recovering from another stolen moment.

"Yes, my love?"

"Tatiana wants to replace Kirova. And is questioning my Vision. She doesn't understand why I had to let it happen, doesn't get the long term benefits from it. She's considering removing me, she doesn't care that I saved about twenty-something lives in it and god-only-knows-how-many-more they now can't eat, that, once again, I saved the last Dragomir. She just sees that I let the Strigoi attack a school, that I willingly put Moroi in danger- again. She doesn't get that the royals have a lesson to learn, that a revolution will start from this. Well, not exactly a revolution, more like going back to the old ways where Moroi fight with their guardians. The only new part will be the formation of Elite- a group of the most lethal guardians who will hunt down Strigoi and take them out."

"Oh Roza. We have work to do, don't we?"

"Yes, we do. We have a trip to Russia on our hands. Elite won't be set up unless we go hunting. There's also a bonded pair I need to meet. And your family. We leave on my birthday. And we need to take down Galina and her gang lest we become the ringleaders." And that was in her full force prophecy voice.

"It's permanent isn't it?"

"Yes. It is. As is sweet talking Adrian into handing over most of his trust."

"I'm not gonna lie, that makes me uncomfortable but I accept it needs to be done. We have a cover to keep, and he knows you're mine." I thought about how she was still refusing his advances. "Well, maybe not quite understand just how much you're mine."

"No, he doesn't understand it. He's obsessed with me, and is ignoring or fighting the inevitable because he doesn't truly understand the what the soulmate situation entails. In other words he's trying to be a home wrecker."

"Why doesn't that surprise me?"

"Because he's immature and irresponsible, and a self-centered, spoiled, party-boy of a royal Moroi. Enough said."

"Immature, irresponsible and party-boy huh?"

"Yup! He's the reverse of you. You're a man, my man, whereas he's, even at twenty-two, still a boy. You're mature and responsible, he's not."

"I am not responsible Roza. You know that full well."

"No. When it comes to me, to us, you're responsible, reckless but responsible."

"Screw you!" I teased playfully.

"Covered that countless times my love."
