DPOV- In a Different Shadow Kiss

Start from the beginning

As it turns out, she needed to find me in my guest housing room. She'd received a note from Victor. I sat her down on the bed and faced her after locking the door.

"Dimitri, what are we going to do?"

"Check the Vision. What's his true motive?"

She accessed her gift. "He's blackmailing us. He wants us down there to find out how Lissa's going with her magic. Now he wants her as queen. Regardless of whether or not we go down he's going to out us but no one's going to believe it."

"Well," I started slowly, my voice going slightly husky I continued suggestively with "in that case" and leaned in and kissed her. It built up and layers came off, my heart exploding under every touch, my support and love flowed into her in that moment and I never wanted it to end, I never wanted to let her out of my arms. Unfortunately, I had to. She had a dinner to get to and the chance of getting caught was too high. But by god she was worth anytime small amount of time I could have with her.

We got through the trial the next day, a piece of our souls dying as we lied under oath. Victor outed us as Rose had seen but, also as Rose had seen, no one believed him. Not even Lissa suspected. Our cover remained in tact, Adrian sneaking a hug (that made me jealous that he could do that with her in public) before Tatiana called Rose and Lissa over. I guess the bitch out over Rose 'wooing Adrian' when Tatiana wanted Adrian and Lissa together was about to go down.

Our return flight was delayed by three hours and when I went to collect Rose and Lissa I found them in full body massages.

"Liss I need to check something out, head to the airstrip I'll meet you there soon." Liss left and Rose turned to me, "come on you. I owe you after that sight." God, the woman was a godsend. When the coast was clear I shoved her into the nearest janitors closet. Oh did my fiancé make up for that sight. How no one caught us was a miracle.

We learned just how vicious the ghosts could be when we landed at an airport that wasn't surrounded by wards. It caused the love of my life to pass out it was that painful both physically and emotionally for her. She ended up in the infirmary and when she awoke she had to enlighten a disbelieving Alberta and Doctor Olendzki. The doctor wanted her pulled and in counselling for post traumatic stress disorder. I simply wouldn't have it; that was the last thing she needed.

"No. She needs to graduate, she doesn't need counselling. She's been through three kills, had to willingly sacrifice her friend, live every incident so far at least twice. She's behind wards, the wards keep them out. She needs to pass field experience. She's strong and resilient, she's gifted and talented, she's not not graduating. A month of nothing will make her worse; she's been swarmed with events no one her age should go through, she needs routine." She needs me. I sighed, here goes nothing, "at least put her on half time. Give her bookwork three days a week. I'll give her extra trainings. Take her off night duty." The other two had a long think about my suggestion.

"I still want her in counselling," the doctor responded eventually.

"That's not happening. It'll only hurt her morale further." No counselling was something I wasn't budging on. She already had me; I was the one she needed, her go to person. "It'll be enough of a blow to go on half time."

Alberta surprised me with "I'm inclined to agree with Belikov. I can pass her on half time and counselling is something she doesn't need."

"I hope you're right you two." The doctor left to alert Rose to her new situation.

"Belikov, she needs you doesn't she? She's already talking to you about it isn't she?"

"Yes. It's why I wouldn't budge."
