The day of Joseph's surprise birthday party came. I put on casual clothes which include skinny jeans and a striped fitted t-shirt. I didn't know what to get him because I don't know him at all, so I baked some cupcakes. They weren't all that great, but I made it with love. Also I bought him my favorite book. It might help him relax because Aiden once told me Joseph was a workaholic.

I walked downstairs and my dad was in his office, working.

“Where are you going?” he asked.

“Birthday party. I won't be back late.”

“Who's going?”

“Just some classmates at school.” That technically wasn't a lie. Aiden is my classmate.

“Did you study yet today?”

I sighed. “Yes Dad. I studied all day today. Can't I have a break?”

“Keep your phone with you.”

I nodded.

I heard the bell for the gate ring and I put my shoes on.

“Bye dad.” I called.

I walked outside with the cupcakes and book in a bag. I stopped in my tracks.

“What? Get on.” Aiden said. He was riding a purple bicycle. Purple.

I chuckled. “This is so cute.”

“It's Trey's. He let me borrow it since I didn't feel like walking.”

“Lazy...” I muttered before putting the bag in the basket.

There was a small platform behind the seat where I could sit. I sat down as Aiden petaled away.

“God Jess...what did you eat? I'm dying here!” he panted.

I smacked him.

“Shut up!”

He laughed. “I'm just kidding. You're light as a feather. See, let me prove to you.”

He suddenly started to petal faster. I squealed and hugged his waist.

I can already imagine his smirking face.

We stopped in front of a house. The neighborhood wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Definitely not as bad as how my dad explained it when I was younger.

“Joseph won't be back until an hour. We purposely had his manager tell him to work one more hour so we could set this up in time. He'll thank us later...” Aidenl explained as we were walking.

He opened the door to the house and everyone was putting up decorations or setting up the tables.

“Finally you're here! We need your tall ass to go hang up the streamers.” someone said and walked up to us.

“Oh you must be Jessica! I'm Daniel. Aiden's best friend.”

“Shut up. No you aren't.” Aiden said and grabbed the streamer roll out of Daniel's hand. He walked into the dining room and started putting them up.

“Yeah, everyone knows I'm his best friend! Hi, I'm Jake.” a handsome boy introduced.

“I'm--”

“I know. You're Jessica. Aiden has said your name in his sleep so many times, I think I will never be able to forget it.” he chuckled.

“Hey!” Aiden through a streamer roll at his head.

“Jessica!!!!” a familiar voice yelled and hugged me.

“Uh...Vea?!”

He giggled and pulled away.

“No. I'm Vince.”

“B-but you...are a boy?!”

I remembered him from when he randomly came to my house, claiming he was an old friend. But that time...he was a girl.

He nodded. “I just dressed up like a girl because Aiden told me too.”

I looked at Aiden. He was whistling, pretending he couldn't hear the conversation.

“Here, I'll take this.” Vince took the bag and set it on the snacks and presents table.

“Oh and that's Rick. He's a little 4-D. Just saying.” Vince jerked his thumb at Rick who was throwing the confetti around.

I laughed.

“Where's Trey?” Jake asked. Daniel just shrugged.

“Aiden Lee-Charles!” a voice boomed.

“Found him.” Daniel snickered.

The door burst open, almost hitting me.

Jake had to quickly move me away.

“YOU!” he yelled pointing to Aiden who was looking scared for his life.

“Y-yes brother?”

“You scratched my bike! Do you know how long it took me to find a purple bike?!”

“Blah blah blah your childhood story...I get it. I can't help it that they put that mailbox there.”

“You're lucky today is a special occasion or else I would pound you right now.” he fumed and walked into the living room.

“Where's Vince?!” he yelled.

“Here!” Vince said. His small voice was the total opposite of Trey's.

“I need a massage!”

“Be right there!”

I couldn't help but smile.

I just met these boys but I can already tell that I will grow to love them too.
