Chapter 1

Violet's P.O.V

We sat on the back of the truck, with pillows and blankets surrounding us. These are nights I love, us looking at the stars, relaxing telling stories of our lives.

"Dude I cant believe mum and dad are getting a divorce" Jake sighs with furrowed eyebrows, looking up at the stars above us.

Our parents are getting a divorce after being married and together for 26 years. Crazy right? 26 years going down the drain. How can people fall out of love? How can you wake up and stop loving the one that has been there through thick and thin?  I guess I'll never know. I hope.

I sigh as well " I know, it's crazy I mean I knew they fought all the time, but I didn't think it was gonna lead to this" I say moving my eyes from the stars in the night sky down to the view below us, looking at all the lights that are bringing the city to life tonight.

"I might have to move away with dad" Jake mumbles, I look over meeting his hazel eyes. A sad expression taking over our features. Jake and I have had a close bond every since we were young. He was my best friend and I was his. I don't know how I'm going to cope without him.

"I don't understand why dad has to move to New York, i feel like he's doing it on purpose" my vision becomes blurry as tears build up in my eyes. Jake wraps a arm around my shoulder, giving me a well needed hug. I hug back tighter as tears stream down my face. I feel something wet hit the side of my face and realise that he's crying too.

We sit there for a hour or two talking about our memories together when we were younger. Our laughs filling the cold air as we lay in the warm pillows and blankets. Im gonna miss this.
