Summer's Point of View
Call me Summer. Not a nice name alright? My parents went crazy on naming me. I mean, there were tons of people they contacted with in order to provide me the best name, and as it turned out, it was not they think their baby would feel good carrying for the rest of her life.
"Sadie is nice. I actually want her with the capital S." Daniel, my father's best friend requested to my Dad when I was six months old inside Mum's womb.
"No, no. Leafy is better, or Tune! Yarky is pleasing too." And that was from Kate, my older step-sister who badly worked hard in assisting my Mum to the hospital only to get one of those names nominated. I was lucky enough none of them was chosen. It would be a curse.
So any ways, aside from those stupid name suggestions, I also had a weird childhood, really weird. Actually I'm quite lazy narating it over again, I got forty interviews in a year. Bad.
Let's make it breif okay? Hanna, Mum's provocative enemy made her quirky about her child auditioning for the world's best kid ballerina. So Mum was jealous and forced me to join the league. For a starter, it's very hard and terrifying! For a girl who spent five years learning them and still couldn't guess how to bend her toe, it's deadlier than ever.
So Mum realized I wasn't made for ballet. She finally gave her hopes up. But she said an episode in a very familiar tv show awakened her faith in me. She said she saw me dancing to the beat of a hiphop and I was really following the rythm right. So she made me join the dance club. Her spirit was lit when I won the dance contest in our school. Well, it was not that hype but I sure did show up and aced it.
So Mum had me auditioned to one of the famous TV Kid Channel and it took less than a week before I received a response from them. Actually, I didn't get the spot but they gave me the opportunity to join their workshop, which would later give me better opportunity, perhaps to a bigger roles.
So I was part of the seminars and dancing trials and that was where I met, Haven, my pure heaven. He was like me, black, and fueled by dreams and marshmallows. Everyday after the practice, he would offer me his chocolate drink and we would exchanged like, salivas in the straw. I was twelve, he was fourteen. We found out that it was more than friends.
After a year of preparations and training, I was finally offered a role! It was actually a comedy and they wanted to cast a black american girl to show diversity in the sitcom and so yeah, I got the role and Haven, got the part of being the extra.
I sure knew it wouldn't not be a hit, not in the racist country of America. Mum warned me for the fans and haters. She had prepared my emotions and was up to whatever happened to the show.
So we started taping, and I met Angela, my co-star. She's a chick but she's small and talkative. We bonded so fast and we relate each other to fashion and dolls stuff.
Haven, on the other hand still offered me his chocolate milk while yeah, call it indirect kissing he promised me he would wait for me till i reach eighteen. He said he didn't want me to risk for him. That moment, that sweet tiny moment I wanted to kiss him directly, and tell him there's no need to wait for infinite years. You know I always had the fear of the unknown like, what if I die tomorrow? or what if he dies tomorrow? I always wanted to be in the moment.
So, the show was a hit. In fact, the highest grossing child show in the whole America regime and I and Angela were both excited that the director announced that we would be having a sequel. One thing for sure for my Mum, she rolled her eyes to Hanna. She said who cares for that national athlete if she's not gaining any money. Lol, Mum was right and I was happy she pushed me through this.
