We were just kids figuring out our lives when we graduated from high school. The fact that we are starting adulthood was crazy. Through the crowded field, I failed to spot my family. But, I heard a guy call my name.
"Kim Hana!" I look up to see my best friend tower over the rest of the people. I break out into a full sprint running.
"Han Seungwoo!" I jumping into him and we both end up on the floor. I remember the immense laughter at that moment. Laying on the field with the crowd walking around us. There was nothing stopping us from lying on our back enjoying the cool summer breeze. Well, except for the sneaky comment made by the teachers and some jealous student.
" I can't believe you're my older sister.", I get up to see another guy standing on the other side of Seungwoo. My younger brother standing there in his taekwondo uniform looks like my mom was later or he didn't want to change.
"Aigoo our Yohanie embarrassed by his older more mature sister," I say getting up off the ground trying to hug him though to my attempts lead to him holding a defense strike he normally does when I show him affection.
Seungwoo in the midst of our sibling fighting had found himself off the ground rubbing the fake grass of the sleek galaxy blue cap and gown. By that time, my little sister and parents had arrived and tried to separate us.
"Both of you stop your not kids anymore," My mom said and looked in a disappointing way like she normally does. She smacks Yohan in the back of the head. I see not far behind them, my little sister, Hani. She is hiding behind my dad. She normally is like this whenever Yohan and I fight because somehow, in the end, she gets hurt. But, Dad was here so he would always protect her from Yohan and me.
" Hello Mr. and Mrs. Kim," Seungwoo says with his signature smile and bows as soon as he notices them. Seungwoo had always been close to me and my family yet he always showed his professionalism around them.
"I told you the call you auntie you been with this family long enough to call me auntie," My mom goes up to Seungwoo and rubs his back.
"Ahhh I forgot sorry auntie," Seungwoo rub the back of his head in embarrassment as if on cue of the Han family arriving behind Seungwoo.
" Hello auntie," I say bowing to Seungwoo's parents and older sister. At this point, his sister looks like the younger sister because he was a whole 5 inches taller than her. Both his parents said the normal hi, hello, and hugged me.
" Wow my child you have grown into a beautiful girl I remember when you and Seungwoo used to walk to the convenience store for ramen in middle school" Seungwoo's sister had been traveling abroad for the past few years for her college education. Unlike her, Seungwoo and I are going to a college here in Korea.
"Thank you Unnie! How were the states I heard they have a lot of these things called In-n-Out?" I have always dreamed of traveling outside the country but have not had the time. Especially, harder for my dad with all the health issue that has happened.
" Yeah it is really good but I will tell you about it later I promise. I just need to catch with this one cuz he barely texts me anymore" She said hitting Seungwoo in the back. Seungwoo laughed and rubbed his back from the pain. "You were the one to tell me not to text so you don't have to use your international plan,"
"I see you still the same annoying little brother,"
"Little I'm not little I am a whole 5 inches taller than you" Seungwoo and Sunhwa would get into a fight like this often. But it would end up with me interrupting and forgetting it ever happened in the first place.
" So how long are you staying here for,"
" Just until I move you both into the dorm then back to America to study for business management," Seungwoo was evidently not happy at the idea of his sister staying that long.
" She probably going back in a week," During this conversation, my family was talking to the Han's about how all their kids are growing up, how the family business is going, and the last drama between the neighborhood. This was the happy moment I can remember from the sea of catastrophe.
This was 4 years ago. It's been 3 years since the incident that killed my Dad and made Hani traumatized to the point where she can't get into a car. It's been two years since the Han's moved to America while Seungwoo stayed behind to go to college with me.
It's been 1 year, 3 months, and 4 days since Han Seungwoo went missing.
