My Pretend Girlfriend Chapter 2 - Riding to school with Chase

Chapter 2

"Venus! What the hell is taking you so long!?" yelled Mars, annoyed. Venus was taking her time in her bedroom and they were running late for school.

"Yes yes, I'm done.. In a minute!" Venus pinned the final butterfly clip to her hair and looked herself in the mirror. It matched perfectly with her white, flowing dress she had specially picked from the wardrobe. She grabbed her schoolbag and ran downstairs, her long hair cascading behind.

Mars looked at his little sister approvingly and said, "You look good, sis, but really. Somebody is getting impatient standing outside waiting for you," he grinned.

Venus stared long at Mars before rushing to open the door and burst outside. Standing before her was Chase on his bicycle. He looked fabulous in the tight black v-neck and khaki trousers. He looked up at her and gave a smile that touched every edge of her body. Venus felt her heart skip a beat.

Mars looked on, shook his head and pushed Venus towards Chase, helping her onto his bike and buckled her hands around Chase's waist. Venus could feel the muscles under Chase's shirt and wondered how it would feel like to touch them.. Without the shirt.

Mars exclaimed,"Well, what's a boyfriend who doesn't fetch his girl to school? Hop on now my friends, and off you go! I'll be right behind you kids." then he added a shoo-shoo with his hands and ran off to fetch his own bike.

Chase started riding. "Hey," he said, "I told your brother that I'll be riding you to school everyday. So that you know.. It'll seem more boyfriend-ish."

Venus nodded her head. "Mornin' Chase. Yeah, I understand. That stupid brother of mine must be gloating now, because somebody is cycling me to school instead of him. He complains to me every morning that I'm heavy. When he lifts weight at home continuously for hours I don't hear him complaining. That idiot! Oh, sorry for rambling off like that.. By the way, sorry to keep you waiting just now." Venus wanted to slap herself for talking like a bullet-train.

Chase turned back to look at her and laughed, saying softly, "It's okay. And I don't mind waiting longer.. Because you look gorgeous today."

Venus blushed and tightened her hold around Chase's. "Thank you," she mumbled.

They rode in silence for the next five minutes. Venus stared at his back and breathed in his sweet smelling shampoo, wishing this would last forever. Once they reached school, Venus got off and Chase chained the bicycle, then they walked side by side towards school.

Just then, a familiar blonde appeared before them. Sophie stood in high heels, hips on her sides with a menacing glare in her eyes. She looked wildly beautiful as she strutted towards Chase and locked arms with him, screeching.

"Chasey baby! You've been ignoring my calls, you bad boy. I've got a party coming up and you must c.."

Much to Sophie's astonishment and anger, Chase shrugged off her grip. "Sophie. We can't stay together," Chase said in an uncomfortable voice. His hand reached out and found Venus's. Sophie's eyes narrowed into grey slits.

Sophie stood still and stared at their interlinked hands. "What's this?" The displeasure was evident in her voice. "So she's the reason?" She pointed at Venus.

Chase gave a nod. "I'm sorry. I hope you understand." he said simply.

Venus thought she could see a red ball of fire raging in Sophie eyes. Like the anger that came out of nowhere, Sophie suddenly straightened her face and gave Venus a smile that sent shivers down her spine.

"Hello there Venus. I know your elder brother, Mars," She stood closer to Venus and mumbled, "You really are as beautiful as they say."

Suddenly, Venus felt a surge of confidence wash into her. She turned hard and her large brown eyes met Sophie's angry grey ones with a look of steely assurance. "Thank you."

She stared at her with eyes full of rage, her beautiful face contorted into an expression of pain and anger. Still, it was beautiful.

Sophie turned back to Chase and said, "I've a party this Saturday and the both of you are invited. 12pm. My house. Tell Mars to come too." With that, she strutted off looking like a perfect goddess.

""You really are as beautiful as they say." Well, at least she's right about that," laughed Chase as he walked Venus to her classroom.

"Wait, are we really attending her party?"

"Yeah? Of course we're going! But only if you want to." said Chase, leaning in towards her to whisper in her ear. "Thank you. I'll call you tonight." Venus would still be able to feel his breath on her ear hours later.

He walked her to her classroom and there, she was obstructed by Jacklyn and Shosanne. Her two best friends. The both of them grabbed Venus and started shaking her hard, screaming and laughing.

"Well well well, Venus! We. Saw. That! What have you been hiding from us, you terrible girl!" cried Jacklyn.

Venus laughed, "It's a long story. How about I call you guys tonight?"

"Alright. Just to let you know, you go, girl!" squealed Shosanne.

The three girls erupted into laughters again.
