Chapter 3

Rose jolted awake. She looked around her and saw that she was in her room. She saw that the window was open and that she was still in her assassin uniform and cloak. She glanced at her clock and saw that it was 8:51. Rose dragged herself out of bed and changed out of her uniform and into jeans and a pink blouse.

She stuffed her dagger under her mattress and her assassin cloak in her closet and went downstairs to the kitchen. I can't believe I meet the devil. She thought as she poured herself some milk. All Rose could think about was her encounter last night.

What reason do I have to trust this so called "devil"? She made a threat on my family and friends and while I have no blood family, my friends could still be in danger. Should I agree to this deal? I gotta talk to Mira about this!

She grabbed a poptart, drank her milk and headed outside.

Rose ran down the block and saw Mira coming out of her house with a suitcase in hand. Rose ran up to her and grabbed her arm, "Mira, we have to talk."

"Can't it wait until after I get back from Florida?" Mira whined as Rose started to drag her back into the house. She sighed when Rose closed the door, "I guess not."

"So, now that you've kidnapped me in my own home, what's so important?"

The next thing that came out of Rose's mouth, Mira never would have expected. "I met the devil."

"You what?!" Mira yelled.

"I don't know! I was on a mission last night and I completed it, but then she just appeared like, out of thin air!"

There was a pause and then Mira spoke. "What do you mean she?"

Hesitantly, Rose responded, "It was a girl, a teenage girl, but she definatly wasn't normal."

Rose went on describing how Victoria the she-devil looked and acted, "She had these huge black wings sprouting from her back and was super strong."

She gulped, "Sh-she wants to make a deal with me."

Mira just stood there in shock, and Rose was getting more uncomfortable by the second. "What should I do, Mira?"

Mira snapped out of it and threw her hands into the air, "How should I know?! But if you really want my advice, I'd stay the hell away from that girl! Now, I'm not an assassin but I sure as hell know what's out there and I wouldn't mess with it. If you want an asssassin's point of view you can go ahead and ask my parents."

Rose shook her head, "No, that won't be necessary. I'll just think it over myself."

Concern over her best friend filled Mira's eyes. "Your not actually thinking of striking a deal with a devil are you?" Rose didn't want to worry her so she smiled and laughed, "Nah, that would be stupid."

She looked up at the clock on the wall and saw that it was almost 10. "I got to go, Mira."

Mira smirked at Rose, "What? Is it time for your date?"

Rose blushed and looked away, "I want to get there early so I better start heading over there."

Mira smiled and nudged her out the door, "Well go on then! Call me afterwards and tell me all about it!"

"I will!" Rose called as she walked down the driveway. I'm sorry, Mira. she thought, But I can't risk you or Leo getting hurt.
