"Is Emma your mom?" Cole asked. "Step mom." I said. "Oh.." Cole said. "Sorry if I'm asking way too much but.." he started. "Nah it's alright." I lied. "Alright. So where's your mom?" He asked. "She's gone." I said looking at the ceiling. A tear rolled down my face.
Brandon's pov:
I heard the door to Flame's room open. I looked over and saw that Cole was exiting the room. "Cole." I called out. He looked at me startled. "Yes?" He asked. "Tell me there's nothing going on between you and Flame." I said walking towards him. "There isn't." He replied. "I don't want her to get hurt." I said with a frown. Brandon raised an eyebrow at me. "Look mate. Nothing's going on between me and your sister." Cole said. I wished that I believed him but I just couldn't. "Then why are you always with her?" I asked furrowing my eyebrows. "Cause you don't want to spend any time with me. I thought we were friends. Flame's genuinely a nice person. Unlike you. All you care is about Tyler." Cole said.
I looked at him with no expression on my face. Things were just a bit awkward now. Not like the good old days. I honestly missed the fun times me and and Cole had but I was unintentionally refusing to do anything about it. And I knew that.
Cole walked out of the house without saying an other word.
I walked in to the kitchen. "Bye Emma." I heard Flame say just before she bumped in to me and fell on to the ground. "Flame you okay?" I asked lending her a hand. "I'm alright." She said walking out of the kitchen. I watched as she got out of the house and left.
Cole's pov:
I saw Flame from a distance and smiled to myself. I fell in love more and more with every second that passed by. I knew that Brandon would kill me if anything happened. But I didn't care about how he felt. "Hey." Flame smiled at me. Her green eyes sparkled like the stars that hung low in the night sky. "Hey." I said softly taking her hand in mine. I didn't know what I was doing but I was thankful cause she didn't seem to mind it
"Damn. It's a beautiful night." She smiled looking up at the stars. "Yeah.." I said. We walked along the road that lead to the beach. Flame tripped over a rock and fell on to the ground. "God. Why does this keep happening to me?" She groaned standing back up. I snickered.
I could feel the cold air all around me. "Why does Brandon seem so upset?" Flame frowned. "He does?" I asked. "I don't know. Ever since you came he just seems a little distant. You know?" She said. "Classic him mate. Don't worry about it." I said. "You have a way of making everything better.?" She said not looking at the ocean. I smiled.
"Hey Flamie look at this." I said taking some sea weed up from the sand. "Flamie?" She laughed coming over to me. I threw it at her and she screamed at the top of her lungs. "WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT??" she yelled hanging on to me. "Damn it's just sea weed." I burst out in to laughter. "Not funny Cole." She yelled pushing me away. "It is." I laughed harder. She made a face at me and walked back towards the road. "Aye Flame. Wait.." I yelled running up to her. She didn't listen though. I pulled her closer but she tripped on a rock once again and fell backwards.
I expected her to yell at me and leave me but that's not what happened. "Fuck you." She laughed. We ended up laughing the night together under the stars. It went to the point where I forced myself to hide my feelings.
"Let's go home. We have school tommorow. It's already 11 PM." I said. "Nah." She said. We were lying down on the beach looking at the stars. I was lowkey happy that she didn't want to go home. "I wish I met you sooner." She said. "Why's that?" I smirked. "Are you really gonna put me on spot like that?" She said sitting down. "I mean. Yeah." I laughed. "Well, you're fun to talk to. And I like spending time with you." She said. It really meant a lot. "Thanks mate." I say.
We talked until 00:34 AM and I started noticing that Flame was dozing off. I decided to take her back home.
I dozed off just as soon as my body came in contact with my bed.
