"Mum, please tell me you're joking" Were the words that left my mouth.

"I'm not hun" My mother shook her head in reply, a sigh leaving her lips.

"Are you serious?!, for the whole summer?, why mum?, why?" I fired questions at her, compensating for my loss of breath afterwards.

"Look Elena, your grandmother is getting old, she doesn't have much time left. she could go anytime" She explained.

I sighed. "I know mum, I understand, but why the whole summer?".

"I want you to be more social-" Just as those seven words slipped out of her mouth, I banged my fist against the table, interrupting her.

"Mum, please, do not bring up your issues with my social life" I said, sternly.

"That's enough you two" Dad said, playing referee like always, when mum and I had arguments.

I leaned back in my seat, tapping my fingers against the wooden surface.

"This isn't for me darling, this is for you, I don't want you cooped up in your room for three months, I want you to live, make friends, be a teenager for once in your life" She said.

"Mum-"

"Honey, I understand where you're mum is coming from, she only wants the best for you, we all do" My father spoke softly, his voice calming me.

"Why can't Alice go?" I asked in a softer voice.

"She still has school, for another week, besides, I want you to make friends, and with your sister there, she'll probably stop you from doing so" Mum replied shortly.

I sighed once again, there was really no changing their minds about this trip, was there? "When do I leave?".

"You leave on Sunday"

I bit my lip, that was in two days.

"Okay" I huffed. As if I even had a choice.

"Excellent" Mum grinned, something that had not happened in months.
