Malikai relaxed in his comforting mother's arms, as he was taken to bed. They just got done eating pizza in the kitchen, and right after dinner he was taken right to bed like always. Finally, they reached his room and his mother placed him on the bed and brought the thick covers over him. She smiled warmly at him, and got the book she read to him before bed on the nightstand.
"Ready for your bedtime story?"
The boy smiled excitely, and nodded. She opened the book, and began reading. A couple of minutes into reading, suddenly glass shattering could be heard from downstairs. Dove just pushed it off as her husband, Kalmin coming home from the store, figuring he may broke something accidental.
"I'll be right back, okay?" She told Malikai softly, and kissed him on his forehead. The boy smiled, and closed his eyes. She closed the book, and placed it beside the lamp on his nightstand. She walked downstairs to the kitchen, expecting to help Kalmin with the groceries or help clean the glass he broke but at that moment she realized that Kalmin wasn't there at all. She stood there, dumbfounded. She stumbled over to the window to check the drive way, and their car wasn't even there.
She suddenly had a feeling in her gut that something was going on, and it was not good. Tears welled up in her eyes, as she began to panic. She grabbed a knife, to protect herself. She slowly walked over to the stairs quietly, and cautiously looked around then, she dashed up the stairs. She ran down the hallway to Malikai's room, and closed the door.
She put the knife down on Malikai's nightstand and she woke Malikai up, and hugged him tightly. The confused, naive boy gave his mother a look and said "Mommy, are you okay?" Before he could finished his mother looked him in the eyes sternly, and said "lock your bedroom door, and don't open it unless I tell you to, okay? Stay in your room" her voice was very shaky from the panic she was experiencing at this very moment. All Malikai could do is nod, and respect his mother's orders. "I love you, okay?" As soon as she said that she grabbed her knife, and left his room. Malikai got up, and did what his mother asked him to do. He walked over to his bed and sat down, hugging his knees to his chest.

She closed the door to Malikai's room softly and slowly walked downstairs with the knife in her hand, that she waved around cautiously. She reached the downstairs, then heard another noise which was something, a object, being scratched along the wall. She looked over to kitchen which was the nearest phone. She dashed over to the phone and quickly called 911. As soon as the 911 dispatcher could answer, someone running could be heard behind her. She turned around to she who it was and before she knew it, a knife was stabbed through Dove, blood dripping from the wound on her stomach, to all over her white night gown, and to the floor. The knife was repeatedly stabbed into her, she tried to let out a scream but the pain was too much. She dropped the knife she had, and fell onto the floor. The man was wearing a black suit, the blood curling smile he wore on his face while killing her was so sickening, willing to make anyone vomit.
"911, what's your emergency? Hello?" The dispatcher could be heard, The phone was hanging from the wire. Dove tried to grab the phone, but the man tore the phone from the wall, and threw it on the ground, then crushed it with his foot to little peices until it was no more. She just layed there in pain, crying, there was nothing she could do. Her eyes blurred, everything was going black, she passed out from all the blood lost.
The man left the house, without a word. Leaving no evidence at the murder scene.
The police arrived along with the ambulance at the Cunningham's house 10 minutes later, investigating the scene.
Kalmin was coming home from the store, he had gotten the gorceries they needed. He looked far down the street and saw police cars and ambulances, he refused to believe that it was his house at first, but as he drove closer and closer, it said different. He was too worried about what's going on, so he didn't get the groceries. He stopped his car immediately, and ran to his house.
He saw his wife being put in the ambulance, and rushed away. He ran to one of police men in his front door and demanded a explaination. The police explained the whole thing with his wife.
At that moment, it was like as if Kalmin's whole world was destoryed. He ran into his house, to Malikai's room upstairs and banged on the door.
Malikai jumped, and ran to the door and unlocked it. Malikai knew that the police came, but he couldn't bring himself to unlock the door and see what's happening, he was too scared. His father hugged him, and began sobbing. The boy kept asking what had happened, but he couldn't get a answer. All he got was his father's uncontrollable crying in answer.
