The city stretched below her, familiar yet distant, as the plane began its descent. She had sworn she'd never return—promised herself that the past would stay buried where it belonged. But here she was, against all her vows, staring out the small window as the landscape of her old life crept closer. Her breath hitched, her heart racing as memories stirred unbidden—taunts, accusations, shadows she thought she'd left behind.
The cabin buzzed with the mundane chatter of passengers eager to disembark, but she hardly noticed. Her mind was elsewhere, lost in the labyrinth of her past—a past she longed to erase but couldn't escape. It clung to her, like a scar that refused to fade, tethered to someone she wished she could forget.
As the plane touched down, the finality of her decision gripped her. She questioned herself again: was this a mistake? Even if only for a few days, was returning worth the risk of reopening old wounds?
The other passengers had already filed out, leaving her alone with her thoughts. It wasn't until the air hostess gently shook her shoulder that she snapped back to the present. Embarrassed, she mumbled an apology and gathered her things, stepping off the plane with a sense of foreboding she couldn't shake.
The immigration formalities passed in a blur, her mind elsewhere. And then, as she stepped into the bustling arrivals hall, the weight of her return settled on her chest. She was here, whether she was ready or not.
I hope you will like it :)
